“ mm, ”   hums under hat’s brim, gaze lifting ever so scandalously as parasol tip prods the fellow’s knee.   “ grandmothers always remember, son. ”   fire, brimstone ;   she can taste it from his aura, from the way he walks. he talks. he suffers in silence. almond biscotti is laid bare in his palm, its scent serene to senses thought lost in time.                “ savor it, i have plenty more where that came from. ”

     “&– Sometimes it feels like FUN ITSELF is a crime.”    Said as if the mess in front of them wasn’t ACTUALLY a crime.      “&– You look like someone that knows what fun it-- - ya agree with me, right buddy?”

❝  I  SAID  . . .  YOU  SHOULD  FIND  ANOTHER  ROOFTOP  .  ❞  sebastian  is  on  one  knee  ,  scrambling  to  disassemble  his  rifle  and  shove  every  piece  into  his  briefcase  as  sirens  blare  in  the  distance  .  LUCKY  FOR  HIM  ,  it’s  a  moonless  night  ,  so  the  air  around  them  is  thick  with  darkness  (  maybe  this  stranger  won’t  see  his  face  ;  maybe  he’ll  manage  a  quick  getaway  without  arousing  too  much  suspicion  )  .  ❝  if  i  were  you  ,  ❞  he  goes  on  ,  maintaining  a  light  but  strained  tone  of  voice  ,  ❝  i’d  hurry  your  arse  off  this  buiding  and  down  to  somewhere  safe  .  maybe  the  bar  down  the  street  or  something  — —  this  place  is  about  to  be  SWARMED  with  police  . . .  and  i  get  the  feeling  you’re  a  little  like  me  .  not  a  fan  of  them  ,  too .  ❞  a  faint  ,  wry  smile  .  he  has  no  idea  who  this  person  is  (  he  looks  relatively  young  ,  maybe  early  twenties  ?  )  ,  but  he  certainly  picked  a  bad  time  to  come  up  onto  this  building’s  roof  .  one  clean  hit  taken  care  of  . . .  and  now  comes  the  escape  .  THE  EVASION  .  with  his  rifle  stored  away  ,  safe  in  the  foam-lined  briefcase  ,  sebastian  stands  . . .  and  finds  himself  somewhat  taken  aback  when  he  realizes  they’re  eye  to  eye  .  ❝  would  LOVE  to  bond  with  you  over  our  identical  heights  ,  ❞  sebastian  remarks  ,  ❝  but  i  have  to  go  .  get  yourself  to  safety  ,  yeah  ?  ❞  a  light  ,  two-fingered  salute  to  his  forehead  as  he  starts  backing  away  towards  the  edge  of  the  rooftop  (  and  the  building  beside  it  ,  where  he  intends  to  jump  to  )  .  ❝  oh  ,  one  more  thing  .  this  conversation  never  happened  .  ❞

             “great. awesome. can’t fuckin’ wait,” there is a little bite to her words. enough to make her own eyes widen as she moves to gingerly cover her mouth. she hadn’t meant to sound so mean. she just hates feeling vulnerable, you know? she’ll take a deep breath before slowly exhaling, looking upward towards tabi. “well, i’m not goin’ anywhere either---...” she’ll grab onto his arm, pressing her cheek against his forearm. a little bit of affection to apologize for being so snippy seconds earlier. “now, use your super amazing night vision to help me find my car. unlike you, i can’t see shit,” // @stabhearts​

   They have to think a bit about the question; it wasn’t that they DIDN’T collect items (THERE WAS MANY A TREE AND UNDERBRUSH FULL OF ITEMS THROUGH THEIR THOUSANDS OF YEARS ON THIS PLANET). Eventually, they submit that there is no perfect answer.     “&– Over the centuries, I’ve collected many things- stolen, gifted, found. Coins, rings-- - some even with a pair somewhere-- - weapons old and new. Trinkets from those I’ve met before, and tokens from those that wish to meet me again. This is a question with infinite answers, and only to gain more.” 

“ where did everything go wrong? ”  her eyes are bleary, gentle smile on her lips.  if she wasn’t drunk, she’s close to it.  “ can we put my life on pause? ”
