Part 2 - Steddie S5 Vol.2 Headcanons - AU in which Eddie survives and he and Steve get together.

Eddie insists on using Whitesnake’s self titled album (side A) as the music timer for the upside down bomb. ( @mackie-trrebbled found the album for this idea)

Eddie hides in the Beamer’s trunk before the turnbow trap because he refused to stay behind only for Steve to find him and he convinces Steve and Dustin to let him stay. He wrapped his bandana around his mouth and wore one of Steve’s baseball hats and Steve’s Hawkins hoodie to not stand out.

Eddie cheers for Steve and his driving skills, he squeezes Steve’s shoulder as they drive through the gate to the upside down. “Go Stevie! Go! Just like a bopper!”

Steve and Jonathan get in an argument at the church that Eddie doesn’t know how to handle it since he and Steve are together (have only been official in secret for a week) but no one else knows so he just stands awkwardly and watches Dustin map out his flesh wall theory. If he acts a little distant because of it he can’t help it. Dustin’s been really bitchy lately too so an extra eye on him won’t hurt.

They get to the lab despite Eddie’s protests and Dustin explains his Star Wars theory. After they spilt up, Nancy going up with Jonathan and the three of them go down. Steve questions Dustin who looks to him now, “I’m right? Right Eddie?” But Eddie just looks at the kid perplexed, “You have a good theory but you’re cocky about it. You’re bound to be wrong at some point.” To which Dustin shoots back, “why are you two always on each other’s side lately? I just don’t get it. My theories have been right, every time and still you doubt me.” Steve answers, “you’re the one that wanted us to get along and now you don’t like it? Seriously Henderson, pick a lane. And Eddie’s on my side because at some point you are bound to be wrong about one of your little theories and someone needs to humble you. Whether it’s me or him.”

They keep arguing but Eddie gets distracted by one of the rooms and wanders inside not realizing Steve and Dustin have continued to argue while they walk. He finds all of dr.Brennans notes. He doesn’t understand everything but he can decipher enough to understand just how wrong Dustin’s theory is this time. He grabs the notebook and goes back to the hallway but Steve and Dustin aren’t there. He roams around jogging as he calls their names but doesn’t hear anything back until he gets two more floors down to see Henderson crying on the floor and Steve no where to be found. Eddie:” what happened? Where’s Steve?” Dustin:” we couldn’t stop arguing, and idk i just i snapped and now he’s gone! Our fight got…physical and he just left. I got mad at him for flirting with Nancy while we’re here and he just kept repeating that I’m wrong but I’m not i can’t be.” Eddie: “woah woah woah, first of all your argument is between you and steve but before we get into this more… i want you to read this journal i found then think of a damn good apology. I’m going to find Steve.” Eddie shoves brennar’s journal into Dustin’s hands and finds Steve crying in another room, where he’s able to comfort him. A big boom erupts and they rush to get Dustin.

They all run up the stairs, Steve faster than the both of them and as the building it melting the higher they get neither of them are fast enough to stop Steve. They don’t catch up to him until he’s laying out the ladder and stepping on it that Eddie and Dustin both grab Steve’s sweater and yank him back. Dustin crying saying “I’m sorry.” Eddie: “What happened to no heroics? I thought you would’ve known better.” Dustin: “i cant lose you! Either of you! Stop making near death decisions! Im terrified bcuz I almost lost one of you I cant handle it. I cant handle it anymore! Stop trying to die!” They all group hug until the melting stops and without thinking Steve and Eddie kiss each other in front of Dustin who flips out now fully understanding on just how many levels he’s been wrong. He has so many questions but first the need to safely find Nancy and Jonathan. And if eddie and steve hold hands the rest of the time, nancy and Jonathan don’t say anything about just offer interested smiles.

Eleven is going to die. Eleven deserves to die. I want Eleven to die. Eleven needs to die in s5 for a happy ending.

Eleven is going to die at the end of season 5 and Jane Hopper/El Hopper will take her place. Eleven is going to lose her powers, which means she going to die, because Eleven is nothing without her powers. Unlike El/Jane Hopper, who is a vibrant, kind, intelligent, funny, wonderful individual without her powers, Eleven, is nothing more than her powers.

In s4, when Mike is focused on El’s powers, and talking about how she’s a superhero, he calls her Eleven. But she doesn’t want to be a superhero. She doesn’t want to be eleven. She wants to be ‘normal,’ to be Jane, to be happy. And it’s not even that she has to change herself or become normal- I don’t even think that has to happen. I think that it’s not so much about wanting to be normal as it is about wanting to be herself.

Because “Eleven” is a name that was bestowed upon her specifically to pigeonhole her into a box of expectations and remove her sense of self. Just like how Eleven gets her hair shorn off, but Jane grows it long. It’s not about the length of the hair but rather, about the choice and agency behind it (or lack thereof when it comes to getting her head shaved).

It’s not even about the name “Jane,” being a better or “normal” name. People who love El for who she is call her ‘El’. Because that name, like Jane, but unlike Eleven, isn’t meant to force her into a certain lifestyle- it’s meant to invite her into one. Into a family. El is a name bestowed by friends. Jane is a name bestowed by family. And even past that, it’s about choice, El’s choice- what does she want to be called, who does she want to be? And as far as we’ve seen from El, she doesn’t want to be Eleven, she doesn’t want to be a superhero. Which is why I think Eleven needs to die.

Eleven has been dying for multiple seasons now. Eleven was fatally wounded when El and Max went to the mall. Eleven was fatally wounded when El joined the Hopper-Byers family, and on so, so many other occasions. And I hope that in s5, they strike the killing blow.

When Holly gets yoinked out of the sky Eddie is the first to break the tension with, “Look I know she’s probably back with Vecna which is bad. But also… how the fuck were we supposed to catch her?” They all stare at him like he has three heads but he just reiterates, “I’m not saying it’s good, but you can’t deny it’s better than the alternative.” Eddie looks down slowly towards where Holly would’ve fallen splat on the ground. Nancy just shakes her head at him along with Jonathan as they start to walk away not warranting his statement with response. Dustin and Steve just shrug at him like “too soon man”

When Will comes out to everyone, Eddie and Steve decide they will too after this is all over. It encourages Robin to pull Eddie and Steve aside so she can come out to Eddie with Steve’s support and that’s when they tell her they’ve been a thing even though she was suspicious of them prior.

Steve and Eddie move out of Hawkins, to another small town after everything is over.

Steve coaches and Eddie teaches music. They have a garden and two cats, Ozzy (black) and Bowie(grey tabby)

They go on regular road trips together to visit everyone who’s left Indiana.

Eddie helps Jonathan score his cannibal capitalist movie

Eddie develops a little bit of a bat phobia despite him still loving bat iconography. Being out in the country bats hide in barns, the trees and can be spotted from time to time, and they never fail to trigger his ptsd. Steve always helps him in the midst of a panic attack to remember his breathing and keep his focus away from them.

Steve’s bat phobia is not as bad as Eddie’s, probably because the bats merely flesh wounded him, and mortally wounded Eddie but he every now and again gets nightmares about the demobats. Eddie will wake up without fail, like he sensed what the dream was and will already be up getting Steve a cool wash cloth for hours sweaty forehead.

They become the talk of their new town, being two young men having just moved from “that weird cursed town that got quarantined” They are convinced the new townspeople are more scared of where they came from than the fact that they are open about their love for each other. People don’t mind as long as they keep to themselves, and all the children are obsessed with them since they have all these cool stories they share during baseball/basketball practice or guitar lessons.
