The AU starts with Ranboo getting into a race, getting chased by Tubbo and Dream and crashing (Comics 1,2,3)

After the crash Ranboo forces Tubbo and his cart to drive into a bubbling lake out of fear dream is behind him. They end up clipping through and land in Ranboo's home. A large cave decorated with lights that has a bed and cart repair area.

Ranboo tries to push Tubbo out due to nerves. He's terrified of any racers especially when they see him glitching. It's only when says that he thinks Ranboo is a racer and that he can help repair his cart to get him back into another race, Ranboo hears him out.

It cuts to Dream, he followed Tubbo and Ranboo down to the crash site only seeing Ranboo's destroyed cart. He pauses, then gets back to the race. Later he is talking with Sapnap and George about Ranboo. Seemingly they fully know who he is, at least moreso than Tubbo did. Sapnap wants to band together and find him, he sees him as a threat to the game due to his glitching status. George retorts they have no idea where he is. Dream decides they have to wait it out, and more importantly wait for Tubbo to come back. Wilbur, eavesdropping, heard all of this.

We cutback to Tubbo and Ranboo, it's late and the arcade is closed. They walk up, pushing Ranboo's cart, to a shack which is a patchwork of different candy materials, music is heard from inside. The person inside is Fundy, he's seen with other game paraphernalia in his house and working on a cart. As he's working he pulls up a screen seemingly out of thin air, types something, and the shotty job on the cart turns into a pristine one.

Tubbo and Ranboo are arguing back and forth. Ranboo doesn't want another racer to meet him this close, it makes him feel unsafe. Tubbo insists that if anyone can fix Ranboo's cart it's going to be Fundy. Ranboo hides as Tubbo knocks on the door.

Fundy answers, and Tubbo basically immediately says everything. Fundy at first doesn't want to work with them "glitches are bad coding- I don't do bad code Tubbo and I'm not fixing someone else's." Tubbo presents a challenge, it's not Ranboo he's asking help for it's his cart, its the opportunity to make it's code nearly entirely new.

Fundy is interested. He takes the cart. He pulls up the screen again this time over Ranboo's cart. It's stable if not clunky just doesn't reset the same as everyone else's. He says he can fix it, temporarily, it will never be able to reset until Ranboo is fixed. He internalizes this, in Ranboo's brain he really is the problem. Fundy says to give him a day.

The arcade is about to open, Tubbo has to leave but he drives ranboo home with the promise that he'll return tomorrow, they'll get his cart, and start figuring out how to get him racing.
