I hear it’s @evangelinelillyofficial ‘s birthday! Here’s a freehand graphite drawing I did of her several years ago which she ended up graciously sharing on her socials. And so when I finished it, I passed it on to a customer who was meeting her at a convention to give to her from me. I eventually got to meet her in person, and here’s also a photo of my son and I with her at a book signing last summer! Crazy that yesterday was a full year since my son Will and I trekked to @indigo bookstore in NJ to meet @evangelinelillyofficial (for a second time for me) and listen to her read a portion of her newest @thesquickerwonkers book to us. She also graciously signed one of my freehand graphite drawings of her, which currently hangs in my office. I had brought it along in its frame in my messenger bag, which I learned quickly was a TERRIBLE idea. Just before she came out to read to everyone, I realized my hand felt wet and I looked down to find blood all over my hand. Turns out the frame started coming apart in my bag and the side of the glass sliced my finger (nothing too serious, thank God!) I quickly darted towards the bathroom and rinsed off my hand, grabbed a few napkins and rushed back to the audience.
