Here is my recently finished freehand colored pencil drawing of Ethan Hunt from the first Mission: Impossible movie on @strathmoreart toned blue paper! I love doing these drawings for the JFH indie sampler covers and for this one, with the site turning 30 years old today, having started in 1996, I wanted to go for a movie from that year. I gave it some effects in photoshop to look like it was in a CD case, and added the cover from Vol. 1 of our sampler in Ethan’s mouth. 😆 A phone pic of the drawing is on the left and the finished cover art is on the right. Anyway, hope you guys dig it! Oh, and the FREE 57-track album is up on the site and ready to download! (Oh, and since some people may wonder. The ONLY AI in the cover art is the price tag. With tomorrow being the site’s big 3-0 (and the release of Vol. 15), I thought I’d reshare one of my favorite covers from the series that I drew. I did this one freehand in colored pencil on black paper. I wanted to recreate an appropriate scene from my favorite movie. I had to find a wide shot from the film with both Ray and Winston, and then update their expressions to be from the moment they say their lines. I then drew the word bubbles and the very top of roof rack that didn’t fit on the original drawing on a separate sheet and merged them in Photoshop. As JFH’s 30th approaches this Thursday, and another compilation featuring my artwork releases, I thought I’d repost this freehand colored pencil drawing I did of @josephquinn as Eddie in Stranger Things that I drew for the cover of Vol. 11 of the site’s free indie compilation. This was a fun one.
