there is the aroace perspective of course; kris is relegated to wingmanning and third wheeling for susie and noelle, the fact that we assume this is willing is unrelated. at the end, susie explains how her and kris' adventures truly mean a lot to her (which is true!) and then ends with saying that they have to tell noelle now, because this is getting too serious to just be them.

all aroace people know how it feels when your friend gets a partner and suddenly you're nothing to them. i wouldn't be surprised if kris had these feelings. importantly, this chapter does still focus on many other forms of love to me. the whole flower crew respect eachother very much and only blue and yellow are explicitly romantic. green + orange and aqua + seth can both be read as siblings. flowery's hinge this entire chapter is his friendship with asgore.

but, not to undermine that previous point, there's an equally good reading here; polyamory.

everyone seems surprised by kris casually tagging along with noelle and susie's date, and even though noelle seems a bit irked by it at first she has no issues with kris' presence later. she doesn't ever act like she's threatened by kris' closeness with susie. honestly, the ending of susie asking to include noelle on their special adventures can be someone asking to invite another into a relationship.

(granted, i don't think kris susie and noelle are romantic at all (aroace kris ftw) if anything this is extremely queerplatonic)

plus, there's the obvious repeated bits about the fun gang being a power throuple, and i really appreciate how they dont try to pair anyone off like oh, these two are in a relationship while this is the third wheel - no, the entire gang is included. there's no exclusion. they're all equally important to eachother.

toby fox has been handling polyamory really well compared to most games; it's not center stage, mostly background bits, but chapter 3's bit with elnina and lanino being with rouxls kaard is great, and it makes clear that the joke isn't that it's polyamorous. the joke is that its rouxls fucking kaard. capn's new relationship with clover also doesnt disparage polyamory at all, it's not "WOW how WEIRD IT IS IM DATING THREE PEOPLE!!" it's just him struggling a bit with so many partners with differing views, which is fair!! its cute!

the fact that they have elsie lovelock and michael kovach as the main vocalists is driving me insane. we already knew elsie had fucking pipes from eternal dream but oh my GOD shes so good here.

Currently, I'm portraying her true self in our rps. She's scared, she's emotional, she's fearing for so many things. She can't pick up her mask because at this point, its shattered into thin splinters.

While it seems the only reason i have her being more soft is because of her family making her less psycho, its actually because her family has been helping her realize that she doesn't need her mask

its like for me at least the second i understood her character properly and realized she is not doing this for no reason and it is because she is fucking terrified it made every line before that SO MUCH MORE DEPRESSING. every single scene with her becomes just so sad because once you see the cracks in the facade you really cant unsee them. she acts like she doesnt care but also cares so much it fucking hurts physically, everything she did was to try and keep her and n safe and it was a FUCKING LIE

how do you feel about marcus as a character

i have no controversial opinions to share because tbh i often forget about him even though he's so instrumental to the plot. i just wanna hear your thoughts because god knows i can hyperfixate but i can't analyse

as a character i do not like him in the slightest. there's a video by schnee on youtube about how he isn't the best written character in arcane which summarizes a lot of my thoughts, but i just generally don't like him past that. which is intentional by the writers, i think

however, i do think he's interesting with the effects he has on the narrative. we have yet to see the consequences of marcus dying which i assume will come up in season 2, and i think the result will be another power struggle with people clawing to become sheriff in the middle of the larger piltover-zaun power struggle. it could also parallel the most definitely happening chembaron power struggle in zaun with silco's death.

his death is also interesting thematically because after i got this ask i thought abt it for two seconds and was like hm. why did he have to die. well for one the sheriff position has to be open for caitlyn to take over, so he was essentially doomed by the narrative. however, the fact they did it so early is a bit strange because i HEAVILY doubt they're gonna have caitlyn take over as sheriff in the next season. she was not well liked in her enforcer job at all, not to mention she was fired, so there's no way she could be promoted. i also think her arc in s2 will moreso involve her being a councilor before maybe giving the position to her dad or just throwing away the kiramman seat entirely.

ok so step 1 she did nothing wrong ever in her entire life. step 2 she actually did a lot of things wrong but its okay because shes sad. step 3 her freckles are so cute. yes im talking about the same woman who murdered half of seattle. step 3.5 shes vi in a different font

step 4 her arc is incredibly interesting because it fully centers around her lack of self preservation, as shes almost purposefully throwing herself into danger and trying to be a martyr because it also to me revolves around the idea that she is not supposed to be alive. she was supposed to die and become an infected but she didn't die and she still doesn't die when everyone else around her gets bit and dies and she still doesn't die when she's laying on a operating table and she still doesn't die when everyone else around her gets shot or beaten or otherwise murdered and she still doesn't die when she murders people to try and get some fucked up kind of closure and she still doesn't die when she finally tries to let go only to be sucked back into the horrendous cycle of violence that is defining her life and trauma and even when she throws herself basically into a suicide mission SHE. STILL. DOESN'T. DIE. everyone else around her is dying but not her. she wants to die to absolve her of her survivor's guilt so fucking badly but she just can't.

i don't think we ever see our attention drawn specifically to a dead character's body; no shots of their blank eyes, their face, nothing.

bill and frank aren't seen. anna isn't seen. riley isn't seen. sam's there in the background with his face hidden. i think sarah's the only one that we have our attention drawn to because it's joel's perspective and that is what he's focusing on.

the fact that joel just calls tess "mine" when he's talking to bill by himself. he doesn't even say partner. which would work because they are business partners, he just says "mine". because if he says wife or girlfriend or partner or even just friend that's too far. that means joel's attached and his whole thing is he doesn't get attached to people. he doesn't get attached so that when they die it doesn't hurt. he doesn't get attached because that's who he is. all he is is just a survivor like bill. he's a rugged smuggler who kills people and he's tess' mad dog on a leash held by her hand. the difference is by the end bill does say what frank means to him. and frank says what bill means to him. they're husbands. they're eachothers purpose. every night they hold eachother and they hold eachother in death. while tess goes to sleep after and wakes up before joel so he doesn't have to notice it. tess doesn't say anything, she says "i never asked you for anything, not to feel the way i felt". joel doesn't say anything, he says "we don't talk about tess, ever". the sickness got tess before joel could because tess was never anything past "mine". bill got frank before his own sickness did because frank was "his purpose".
