Square breathing is useful to fight anxiety and stress. Here's how to do it (following the rule of 4, like the 4 sides of a square):
Begin by slowly exhaling all of your air out.
Then, gently inhale through your nose to a slow count of 4.
Hold at the top of the breath for a count of 4.
Then gently exhale through your mouth for a count of 4.
At the bottom of the breath, pause and hold for the count of 4.

Manage your Craving with these Three Breathing Techniques
When you are dependent on a substance, there is no specific way to eliminate cravings. You may experience cravings even after you have detoxed from the drug and are no longer physically dependent on it. Controlling intense cravings might be challenging, particularly if you are already having a difficult day. In that case, breathing techniques are helpful. Here are three breathing techniques that can help you.
Let me introduce you to
Square Breathing!
Square breathing is a breathing technique that goes as follows:
Breathe in for 4 counts
Hold for 4 counts
Breathe out for 4 counts
Hold for 4 counts.
I like square breathing because there’s only one number to remember, and it helps me get a handle on my breathing quicker.
Some people like to imagine a square, and think about moving their breath or awareness along each of the sides.
As always, the best breathing exercises are the ones that work for you, but I hope this one can be helpful :)
Why am I just now hearing about square breathing?? Literally this saved my friend today when she had an anxiety attack and I am just hearing about it!!!
(for those as unfamiliar with this concept as I was, you take a breath for four seconds, then hold your breath for four seconds, let it out for four seconds, and hold your breath four seconds. and repeat, of course)
