SQL Server memory constantly going up, from 1GB RAM used to 7GB in a week

I have a ~45GB database that increases rapidly (~1GB every week).

So it’s doing a lot of inserts; the web app doesn’t have many users so reads are low right now.

But I’m noticing that the RAM sql server users goes from ~1GB when the server is first started to using ~7GB of RAM after a week.

Is there some sort of memory…

Does anyone have any idea what this flag does? There is no reference to it on MSDN. It is not a part of the article that lists available trace flags in 2008.

There is a KB article that recommends that it is turned on to resolve a specific issue with SQL Server 2008 that we have run into, but we would like to at least know what this flag does before enabling it.

I have developer edition from SQL Server 2008, but now I have a piece of software with a hardcoded connection string:

Data Source=.\SQLEXPRESS;Initial Catalog=db;User Id=sa;Password=1234;

Now I tried adding an Alias in the configuration tool to SQLEXPRESS, but it just doesn’t want to use this new alias.

I enabled TCP/IP and restarted the service.

I’ve read some suggested that putting log file and OS on its own RAID1 while the rest of data is on RAID10 would be the best config for 8 disks. However I’m short of 2 disks and wondering which config would be just as good.
