So first, obviously, you are going to win so good at video games to get a special prize that reminds you of him, that you're sure he'll love. You're a pro gamer, you can do this! Easy! ...Except when it's not, apparently, because tonight you just absolutely Suck at playing games. Your girlfriend's scores are leaving you in the dust. She has enough tickets now to go get that prize at the counter you were going to get for her. You just know in your heart that that's exactly what she'll do.

He comes back with? A prize for you? Says he saw you staring at it on your way in. It's a sheep plush. You... it's not what you were staring at but you can't even object. You like sheep. And fuck it, he can't know what you were actually planning to get.

(And also, god damn it. You wanted to get something nice for him!! Not the other way around!!!)

Then comes dinner. A cozy little place. A bit expensive, but they do candlelight dinners. How romantic! You even made reservations, because you are so cool and grown up and you think ahead. Perfect night for staring at your date, across the table...

Smiling to yourself, thinking about how lucky you are...

Well that's the most embarrassing thing to ever happen to you on a date. At least it's caught in time, no real damage done, you even get to move tables. Still. What in the goddamn is happening to you?

You're still frazzled by the time you get to the movies. This is fine. you literally cannot mess this up. It's a horror film; Sophie loves those. If it's terrible, then you'll at least have something to laugh about on the way back home. Legitimately, there is no way this can go wrong.
