Something about the kid saying

“I know your kind,” he said. “What’s wrong with you is wrong all the way through you.”

Stuck with me, because he’s right, whats ‘wrong’ with Sproule is wrong all the way through. Sproule is self pitier. He’s doomed from the start, a boy with gangrene and tuberculosis, both death sentences in the 1840-50s, the Kid knows this but tries to help anyway, but there’s no cure for self-pity. I think by this point the Kid was fed up with dealing with Sproule, his hysteria probably pushed the Kid over the edge, he likely saw nothing but the weakness in Sproule, something too human for him to deal with.
