Ingredients: 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 cup granulated sugar. 2 tsp baking powder. 1/2 tsp baking soda. 1/2 tsp salt. 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg. 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted. 2 large eggs. 1 cup buttermilk. 2 tsp vanilla extract. For the glaze:. 2 cups powdered sugar. 1/4 cup milk. 1 tsp vanilla extract. Food coloring optional. Sprinkles optional.
Instructions: Preheat your oven to 350F 175C. Grease and flour a donut-shaped cake pan. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and nutmeg. In another bowl, combine the melted butter, eggs, buttermilk, and vanilla extract. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Pour the batter into the prepared donut cake pan and smooth the top. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Allow the donut cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer it to a wire rack to cool completely. For the glaze, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Add food coloring if desired. Once the donut cake is completely cooled, drizzle the glaze over the top and add sprinkles if you like. Let the glaze set for about 15 minutes before serving.
