Y’all… Let’s talk about misery. No, actually let’s NOT talk about misery. Let’s talk about joy. Let’s talk about 2023, when my life isn’t everything I want it to be, but it’s happy. It’s no longer 2014. My face is unable to fake emotions. It’s no longer a time when I’m in a soul-sucking job AND marriage. It’s no longer a time when I’m living in fear of the unknown, of being alone, of using my creativity to make my own money and my own rules. Of living MY life. Yes, 2023 is exactly where I am supposed to be because… WE ARE ALWAYS EXACTLY WHERE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE. Every second of every minute of every day. If we are feeling contrast right now to what pleases us, that contrast is telling us to make a choice. We are learning. We can find a way to overcome the fear and go forward in a number of directions, or we can stay the same. There’s no shame in staying the same, but the contrast will increase in intensity and frequency. The old saying is true, that people change when it becomes too painful to remain the same. Some of us have a much higher pain tolerance. But we don’t have to wait until it’s too much. What if we didn’t wait for the pain to be too much, but instead just followed the joy? We can make changes any time, literally. There is always a choice. The choices may suck, but there are choices. We have to first believe this, and then the universe will show us it’s true by sending us angels in the form of community, and situations that, if we are brave enough, can cause change. Even if it’s just a tiny change. Do something to move yourself forward. And I’ll tell you a secret. My life is not where I want it to be because I don’t know the destination. So I reach and I stretch, and I learn and I love. I’m just going where the journey takes me. I feel like I haven’t stopped moving for a month. Constantly editing, petsitting, shooting photos, dealing with emotion and loss, holidays and general busyness. It’s not that it’s all bad. Some of it’s been really good. Sometimes we need to hit the reset. Today I’m painting. It’s a gorgeous day and I have accomplished quite a bit this week. Usually Sunday is my day for me, so I will thoroughly enjoy it. Then back to work tomorrow. Y'all, my mom left us unexpectedly Sunday morning. I don't really have much to say right now, except that I already missed her, living far away. Now it's a permanent miss… at least in these physical bodies. The positive for her is that she suffered from chronic pain as long as I can recall. Today, she is energy again, and doesn't know any more pain. I am grateful she is free. She came into my life when I was eight, and was the one mother figure who made me feel loved. I love her so much, and this is really fucking sad. Just letting y'all know in case I ghost you more than usual. Thanks for any love you can send my family's way. This is the first year that on November 8th I didn’t recognize that it was the day the odyssey started. Leora was admitted to the hospital for the first time on November 8, 2002. TWENTY YEARS AGO. I’m glad to say that today is November 11th and I only thought about it because it’s 11/11 and that was the day of her surgery. I signed into the family waiting room at 11:11 on 11/11. 20 years ago today. 20 years ago they removed an enormous tumor from my girl’s body. 20 years ago we found out she had cancer. My healing the last few years has been incredible. I’m so much more peaceful, and although I miss her, I know that it’s a selfishness miss. She’s off somewhere laughing and loving and growing in spirit. She’s with me still and always will be.  I’m just completely blown away that it’s been 20 years. I don’t know where the time is gone.
