I definitely am, especially since this is the last weekend of June! I need to read a lot over the next few days to catch up, so I’m looking forward to spending the whole weekend reading. 🥰 What will you guys be reading this weekend?? . . . My first reread of the year, and I couldn’t have picked a better book. I Capture The Castle is a wonderful, classic British novel set in the 1930s. It features Austenite heroines, Shakespearean misunderstandings, and Dickensian rags and riches. I truly love it; it’s funny and witty, with much pathos and self-awareness. If you’re an Anglophile like me and haven’t read it, please search it out and give it a shot. 🌼Hope you all had a good Easter! Mine was spent working on this cheesecake for two days and can I say I'm rather pleased with how it turned out! Current read is Kafka's complete short stories. If you've never read Kafka before I urge you to do so. He's wildly strange with the appearance of a refined, sane author. I finally read "Metamorphosis" and, I'm going to be honest with you, it really disappointed me at first. I'll write a more in depth blog post about it later so check out the link in my bio, but basically it's the story about a man who wakes up to discover that he is a bug and how his family deals with the situation (and I'll tell you now they make very poor decisions). I was disappointed and angry at first—the ending is rather unsatisfactory—but then I was writing about it and had the realization that the whole story is an extended metaphor for, what I believe to be, Kafka's depression. The story became far richer after that realization, and an even greater tragedy. Like I said, check out my blog (I'll make a post in my story once it's up) to read my whole analysis of it.
