★ What were some of your favorite 2020 reads?    Goodbye, 2020 ... don’t let the door hit you on the way out ...    These stacks feature some of my favorite 2020 reads! My top read of the year was A Kingdom of Flesh and Fire, with From Blood and Ash a close second.    Not pictured are a few that I don’t own physical copies of (yet!), such as Door of Bruises by Sierra Simone, Famine by Laura Thalassa and the complete Devil’s Night series by Penelope Douglas!    I have about an hour left in my audiobook of Kingdom of the Wicked, so once I finish that, I’ll have hit 106 books for 2020. ★ Do you plan which books you read last and first in a year?    I usually don’t. Only because most of the time I’m actually in the middle of a book and/or cramming to get as many in as possible before the year ends.     That said - everyone has been asking lately, so I decided to plan *at least* three books I wanted to finish the year with.    I finished American Royals last night and it was so fun and full of drama. I loved it and look forward to more wild petty soap opera antics in the next one. 😂 *hugs and comforts Connor* I am waiting to start the next until I have the audiobook through the library, so feast on my next two audiobooks!    I’m starting Kingdom of the Wicked later this afternoon and Addie Larue will be what I finish the year with. I’ve been dying to read both of these, but I was in a reading slump in October and November and worried that would taint my experience, so I decided to hold off. But now I’m ready to end my year with a bang and finally meet all of the wonderful characters in these books.     I am also reading an eARC of The Wolf and the Woodsman right now and y’all ... it’s SO good. ★ Do you tend to prefer UK or US covers?    Just a quick post from me today, as we are getting food prepared for later this evening. I hope everyone is having a lovely holiday and/or start to their weekend.     I’ve found I tend to prefer UK covers! I actually didn’t even know that some books have different covers in the UK – because of publisher differences – until bookstagram!    These UK covers of the Daevabad Trilogy are some of my favorites, although I absolutely ADORE the green and gold of the US cover of Empire of Gold. ★ Short books or long books?    I don’t really have a preference but sometimes a few short romance books are just the cure to get through a reading slump!    Thank you to @jilliandodd for sending me this impressive stack of the Kitty Valentine books! These books are short, sweet and hilarious – perfect for a lazy afternoon of reading!    On another note, Happy Holidays everyone! We have always opened gifts on Christmas Eve, so the kids are bouncing off the walls with excitement for tonight.     As you may know from my stories and previous posts, my family just sold and moved out of their house. They haven’t found their dream home yet, so they’re spending a few days and the holiday here until they head out of state to continue their house hunt. It’s the first Christmas we’ve ever spent at our house (we usually go to my or my husband’s family’s houses), so it’s surreal to see our tree swallowed by presents from everyone. ★ Would you be on the naughty or nice list based upon your 2020 reads?    I would definitely be on the naughty list. 😂 Between authors like Sarah J Maas, Jennifer L Armentrout, Sierra Simone, LJ Shen, Jewel E Ann and Penelope Douglas ... the naughty list and I are well acquainted this year.     Also ... taking the leap and switching to a darker, warmer feed for now - I’m loving the cozy, warm vibes of this filter and have wanted to try switching to a darker feed for awhile now. ★ Do you have any reading goals for 2021? Whether number of books or something else?    I usually set my goal to 100 at the beginning of the year and see how things go. Most years, I hit 100 reads around June (thanks to audiobooks) but I only just hit 100 for 2020 a few days ago because the pandemic really put me in a slump for awhile and dropped my reading time down quite a bit. I’m hopeful next year will go better!    I usually also have an idea of a few series I want to read from my backlist each year. I know in 2021 I would like to read the Daevabad Trilogy, Vampire Academy and Iron Fey books, plus a few other series I need to get caught up on.     Other than that, I’ve been MIA for the last few days because my family is moving out of state and we’ve been helping them move out of their house.
