During this year’s summer, while everyone is busy doing something productive while on quarantine, I also decided to start working out. Every time I see girls on social media having that #bodygoals, I tend to get motivated. So, I challenged myself to workout for a month and not to eat rice hehe just to burn some belly fat. I even documented how my stomach looks like every week (the goal is to have abs) to see if there is an improvement.
Each time I look in the mirror, all I can see is a girl who’s envious and self-conscious. Honestly, what other people say about my figure affects me. Hearing words like “dakua na nimo ug braso uy, imong bagtak pud niya tambok na kayka”  lowers my self-esteem.
After 2 weeks of working out, I stopped because I got lazy. I promised myself to get back after 2 days of rest, but months have passed now and I haven’t done it yet.
Although it didn’t turn out as what I expected it to be, I’m still happy because it helped me control my weight, my eating habit, improved my mood, and boost my confidence. One thing I learned is, you just have to accept your body. You may not love it all the way, but you just have to be comfortable with it, comfortable knowing that that’s your body. Don’t let social media affect you because it only creates jealous behaviors over illusions. We just have different perspectives on how we see the importance of beauty, but in God, we are all the same.
