Could you introduce yourself?
My name is Manchado and Iām an artist :)
I self produce and write music, Ā direct and create Ā videos, make and paint Ā clothes and dance. I moved to New York City when I was 18 to pursue art, and pretty much do that now.
What's the story behind OUT OF CONTROL? Ā What inspired the track?
Well I wrote the song over a year ago, it was a time where I was writing a lot. I Ā would write Ā around 5 songs every week. I was sitting at a Starbucks and was feeling sad Ā because I felt kinda lonely Ā (this was around the the time I first moved to New York), I started writing over a loop and Ā in 10 minutes āOut of Controlā was done.
The song is really personal, itās about embracing ones self, embracing Ā everything that people tell you is negative or an imperfection. In an world that wants you to feel insecure about yourself and that wants get rid individuality, finding ones self is tough, anyone out of the norm is instantly targeted in a negative way. I was always very energetic, loud and creative and for a lot of people that was a problem. I had to deal with a lot of backlash for the way the that was. From school, family and even people in the street . The song references the loneliness I felt by being different and not having people who I could vibe with but still embracing my own individuality, my āflawsā and the things people ridiculed me for. The lyrics in the chorus state perfectly what the song is about
āThe Buzz is all at the party but I want someone to make some noise Iām not lost or dark but just sad Cause they donāt get me now they get me now Iām out of Controlā
Could you tell us about the visuals used in your recent music video for Part 2?
So after I did āBreakā (Part 1) I was thinking of moving on to the next visual with something completely different. I knew āOut of Controlā was the next song Ā since when I played live Ā I got a big response and also I feel that itās a lot more personal than Break and It reveled more of my personality than āBreakā ddi. Even though I wanted to do something different I felt that I had started a world, I had characters and it had a storyline that had an open end and that I Ā could expand a lot more in.
I started by expanding Ā dynamic of āthe wolfā and āthe sheepā. People who lead and people who follow, people who prey and people who are preyed upon. The events that occur Break are my interpretation of the world where people who challenge the norm (creatives, minorities, queers etc) Ā are preying on the ultimate symbol of the norm Ā (white male that sticks to societal expectations) which Ā is the guy in the sheep mask and the suit. Still that doesnāt happen in the real world, it's usually the opposite, what I created was a fantasy.
Part 2 tells the story of me waking up from that fantasy and living in the world where everyone follows societal norms (basically the real world). Ā For example the beginning of the video starts in a soccer field, thatās a direct reference to where I grew up (Colombia) where it's expected of you as male to be interested in soccer. I was never into it and that led me to not have as many friends to not be considered normal and led me feeling isolated. Ā I could go more in details with the rest of the video thatās up for you to figure out. The same message goes across the video is me being isolated by not conforming with the norm.
I like the contrast that has with Break theyāre both different vibes but still make sense together. Both musically, thematically and aesthetically
How do you feel your recent projects have changed you as an artist? Ā Feel free to go into detail!
Well I think working on my latest stuff has Ā just given me more of an idea of who I am as an artist. The more that I am true to my instincts, my story and my creativity my whole identity as an artist Ā is more clear. Iāve been able to know more what I want to say with my art and how to channel my experiences and my feelings into a story a visual and a concept.
What was your favorite moment when making your recent music videos?Ā
Finishing them and coming up with them!
Ā I really enjoy the process of coming up with the idea, and figuring out in my head how the story will go, the frames, the things I will wear Ā and what each thing means. Ā Still executing that Ā its the most exhausting job Iāve ever had to do. I basically do all the organization, location scouting, producing and more. You have to juggle so many things; coordinating peopleās schedules is probably the one of the most stressful jobs in Ā existence specially if you have no money to pay them. Anyhow by the time everything comes together itās all worth it.
Other part I actually really like is the parts where me and my friends are just having fun, both videos have parts that are every real, I feel they capture our essence and personality which is pretty to look back on.
2016 is almost over! Ā What are some goals you have the rest of the year? Well I am finishing this whole thing I started with this videos, Part 3 is coming and Iām putting up my debut EP. Itās gonna be really cool, I have collaborations, new songs and lots to share. The whole story will come to a great ending and canāt wait for everyone to see.

Donāt let anyone tell you that who you are is wrong. If have things your are drawn to naturally and ways that you are instinctively that is part of your personality, donāt ever repress it it. Use it on your favor, Iām pretty sure your purpose is linked to your personality and the way you feel most comfortable and happy. BE OUT OF CONTROL <3
