This one ALWAYS gets me. Dean is trying so hard to be friendly. But try as he might, he's so off balance!
Dean introduces himself and is trying to do small talk.
DEAN: "I never met [Asa] but I've heard some crazy stories."
And like, this guy has somethin' to hide. He's defensive. But Dean is just... thrown for a rude, ugly loop here. This guy is testing him. (A very "Are you talking out your ass, outsider?" vibe.)
Then Dean gives an example of a story and everyone erupts into easy comradery, shouting about their drinking game. "Hey! Our FAMOUS friend said the magic word! Drink, everybody!" (clapping)
But even that reads passive-aggressive. Famous friend.
Dean looks like a spooked horse.
He tentatively says it again, and they shout louder.
He gets the (correct) sense he's a biiit the butt of a joke.
So, he smiles tightly and tries to play along. "Okay. Didn't know the rules."
DUDE: "If you think the stories about Asa are crazy, you should hear what they say about you."

Fora guy that has all that Hell trauma, and all the demon trauma. It's just... :(
I wish Cas were there with him... :( The unsocialized angel has such a strange stabilizing presence for Dean, even and perhaps especially in social situations like this.
