I really thoroughly enjoyed Shadow of Evil. I do feel like they put a little too much, so some moments felt a TAD rushed. Overall, though, an excellent episode. Lots of funny moments, GORGEOUS animation, and delicious lore drops. I like how we’re seeing a shift in animation to show the story getting more serious- particularly when the Fam was riding away on the train and everything went dark except for red outlines and red, narrowed eyes. SO badass.
Also, super loving Splinter’s attitude. It would be very understandable to make him resentful or mournful of his lost life as a successful, gorgeous, slutty movie star. It is so refreshing to see him instead reveling in his current life. He had NO clue there was anyone else in the lair- he wasn’t performing his song for anyone, that was all genuine. Splinter loves and REVELS IN being a rat and his life underground. Most importantly, he loves his sons. He loves all this without reservation or effort or regret, and its beautiful.
