A third series of the award-winning time travel audio comedy Night Terrace, starring Jackie Woodburne. As heard on BBC radio!
This is a link to a kickstarter, in its last day (+ a few hours), to fund a phenomenally well-deserved third series for an absolutely incredible time(&space) travel comedy audio drama, made by an indie production company, where the âshipâ is a relatively ordinary Australian house & its unwitting crew, at least to begin with, are the houseâs new owner, Dr Anastasia Black, recently retired from a top-secret organisation, & Eddie Jones, a student doing door-to-door sales, who happens to pick just the right/wrong house at exactly the right/wrong moment.
There have been 2 series, both now broadcast on BBC Radio 4 Extraâs âSeventh Dimensionâ & Iâve heard all of them (apart from 1 episode of series 1 that I missed part of), as well as 3 mini-series and a live episode (which I havenât heard yet as Iâve only just bought them by pledging), & theyâre all brilliant (the ones Iâve heard and surely also the ones I havenât).
The show takes some of its cues from Doctor Who, because the people behind it, Splendid Chaps Productions, are fans & started off with a live DW podcast which they take their name from, but is very much its own thing & you donât need to like DW or even sci-fi/sf at all tbh to like this. At least as far as Iâm concerned but I actually do like both those things so may not be the best judge lol. It also stars Neighboursâ Jackie Woodburne whose presence, contextually, must be somewhat of a coup but as Iâm a horrible philistine with regard to British soaps let alone the Australian ones it really doesnât mean much to me. She is brilliant as Anastasia though, portrays the character exactly right & having an older woman as a time traveller & as the knowledgeable capable one is rarely seen/heard & wonderful (& it ends up being 2 knowledgeable capable women in Night Terrace eventually, but spoilers, sweetie - I am indeed that person with the River Song references, it turns out) - & yes I know Jodie Whittaker means the Doctor them/herself is a woman now but Night Terrace predates her (2013) and anyhow itâs different, sheâs so very alien & Dr Anastasia Black could not be more human which is important too
I realise a lot of folks on tumblr donât have any/much spare money so this is probably a long shot but it might reach someone who is interested and can afford to donate, and as an added incentive all the rewards tiers get you the new season (and rewards obviously scale up from there, iâm sure you get how a kickstarter works, with an option to add previous seasons or even all of their previous Night Terrace releases as an add-on to your chosen tier for an extra donation - although i guess not to the tier that is just seasons 1-3). You can also hear series 1 episode 1 for free on their website, bandcamp and on the kickstarter itself.
I get that this wonât be everyoneâs cup of tea (and again that not everyone can afford these things) but if maybe you know someone who might like this, the Splendid Chaps would, Iâm sure, and certainly I would be grateful if you passed it on in whatever form. Even just plain reblogging could help get the message out, but as ever please donât feel pressured to do things that are beyond your finances/capablities - you come first a a person not as a tool to fund/promote this

... for those of you who arenât aware, some of these splendid chaps are the Splendid Chaps, and they are currently halfway funded in a Kickstarter for season two of their hilarious and clever original sci-fi audio comedy, Night Terrace. The Lee Stickometer is at 51% and the shenanigans can only get shenaniganier from here on in. We fell off the Tumblr wagon a bit with posting our episodes, so we're finally catching up! You can still see them on our web site of course, but you'll see them here too. And we might post some more Doctor Who stuff, even though we've finished making Splendid Chaps. It's not as though Tumblr has enough Doctor Who, right?
