Yesterday (June 16th) evening, Jim Carl (the Carolina Theatre’s programming director) got word from American Genre Film Archive that Frank Hennenlotter is pulling all bookings of Basket Case from theatres until further notice.  This means it will not screen at Splatterflix in October.

Jim’s working with AGFA to swap out the film for another they represent, and has put it to a vote on the Retro Film Series FB page:

Artists Brockton McKinney, Bo Fader, Jordy Dickens will be at Splatterflix, signing the DVDs for Evil Bong 666 & Rodney Cecil: Psycho Hero.

On Friday and Saturday, Little Shop of Horror (a local business specializing on horror and spooky stuff) will be on-site, selling movies in both DVD and VHS format.

On Saturday, local artist Amy May Pop Art will be on-site selling limited edition prints of some horror-themed pieces she’s done.

The showings of The Funhouse and Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 will be dedicated to the talents and memory of director Tobe Hooper, who recently passed away.

Barf bags (similar to those used for airline sickness) will be provided with all showing of Fulci’s Zombi.  (Seriously -- they’ve had 1,000 bags made, printed with images used in the 1980 NY City screenings!)

For the Saturday 3pm showing of The Mutilator, which was filmed here in NC, writer-director Buddy Cooper, special make-up effects artist Edmund Ferrell, and actor Jack Chatham (”Big Ed”) and actress Ruth Martiniez (Final Girl “Pam”) will be in attendance and host an audience Q&A, be on hand for fan photos, and have exclusive signed merchandise, including posters (restored by Cooper himself), tee shirts, and 45 rpm records of the film’s title song!

1980s “Scream Queen” Jill Schoelen will introduce 1991’s Popcorn and have a post Q&A with the audience at the 3pm Saturday screening.  There will be a meet-and-greet with fans in the lobby after the show.  She will happily autograph one (1) item you bring to the show for free and pose for pictures with fans.  She will also be selling merch from several of her films which you can purchase in the lobby for her to autograph for free. Cash and credit cards are accepted. 

Jill will also be greeting fans and autographing items before the Sunday screening, but not after.

They’ll also have many great local vendors in the lobby -- Little Shop of Horror, Amy May Pop Art, Holy Mountain Printing, Gruesome Magazine (with Scarlett Spitfire), Brockton McKinney, and more -- selling movie-related merch all weekend!
