SPINEROD thoughts
the dynamic of "a noisy fearless enthusiast trying to make friends with the guy who wants to kill him but can't" is right here. We will assume that Cad has some kind of access to Miles, and that Miles will distract enough from his grandiose plans to listen to his nonsense.
And now the delicious, oozing with sketches opposites yum-yum-yum
Miles wants to conquer the world that rejected him (posing as it savior). Cad is trying to fit into the world (to become personally successful). And they BOTH achieve this thanks to the power that money gives
Miles - thinking and planning, calculation, order, carrying out revenje not only for himself, but for many lemon cars, at least in words. Cad - loud-mouthed chaos that makes decisions thoughtlessly and selfishly.
Miles is the mask of an altruist and a good guy, he has a well-built legend and he cares about anonymity and cannot look like an idiot in public, inside he is cynic and very hurt to the point of severe hatred. Cad`s fawning and fake smiles are very easy to read, he talks to you as long as you are interesting to him, he sincerely doesn't care about the feelings of others. He is pomaded and pretentiously wants to look successful, but inside he is a panicked perfectionist who hates failures (I guess?). They can feel each other's falsity and use it.
Their relationship is based on consumption, profit, and the trophizm. Someone is always dishonest, leading an invisible game of forces and interests of each other... more or less dumb. And it's suites them. Miles is entertained... of the Cad's volume. Cad is not afraid of Miles at all, because he knows that, say, in the AU where they met, Miles cannot or does not want to kill/ hurt him. Maybe Cad took precautions in case of accidents and Miles/his business would be under suspicion (so he angered him publicly/started a rumor and dug up evidence of atrocities to keep Miles on the hook, idk??) Or Miles doesn't perceive him as a threat, because in the case of killing/trying to silence him, there will be waaaaay more noise than good.
I can picture how Miles' good guy faking slipped after a few attempts to get his attention and profit, then real threats and a shitty nature began to show, but will this stop Cad? Naah. He has his own plans so of course not. Now one of them is literally eating up the nerves of the other in order to gain trust. Cad will find any ways to call Miles on his personal phone at the vulnerable or willing to listen times and support or shower him with insults and challenges in order to maintain interest in the game. But sometimes Miles almost feels like this is how his hypothetical friend might communicate if he were "normal."
This is toxic and terrible pair in which the main dynamic is to get something in return or solve personal problems through aggression, ingratiation or domination over the other. I can imagine a terrible fight turning into an absolutely terrible bed scene. (Btw I don't think any of them identify themselves in any way. Hate-love or whatever that is just a way of satisfying needs. It often doesn't matter who does it).
