Hello! Sorry this is really long, loves 💛
I came out to my friends as non binary a bit ago when spring break ended and they seemed to take it on pretty well. Well, about two of them actually got it, the others just nodded yes and forgot it right away, ignoring it completely and calling me she/her still.
One of em, let's call him C, laughed and said I was a "f*cking amphibian b*tch, are you Pennywise now? Imma just call you It, hoe." It hurt but at least the name calling has decreased to just 'lesbo' and with threats of labeling me. Label me all you want, I'll just correct you or not respond but just understand that I'm not a lesbian entirely.
Another two of my friends just, idk, they don't seem to get it at all. Let's call em J and M. Well, I explained to them for about 10 minutes what nb is and what me being that meant and just simple, basic things and at the end J asked, "So does that mean you f*uck goats?" I went into further detail and at the end they said they understood and that I it was okay with them.
About a week or two ago, we were studying about WWII in class and when the topic of women working more and having to take over came on, I looked over at M and said "Y'all females strong!" J looked over at me and said, "What you mean 'y'all'? You a female too! Look at her trying to be all oh!" M laughed along with him and agreed and told me to stop playing and looking for attention, telling me to be quiet. When I noticed they weren't playing, I reminded them of what I'd told em a few weeks back and J sighed, saying "Just what we f*cking needed; this to become a reality. Really, Andy? This sh*t? No, you're not that, not an IT, you're a she and that's it." M agreed and told me wtf was up with me, why was I being like this, to stop and just
It hurt. It hurt they two of my closest friends that I trust with everything forgot about what I'd told em and just stepped all over it when I reminded them of it. They've never heard of someone being nb, it's a completely new and strange term to them but respect ain't. I mean, shouldn't respect be there at all times? Maybe I should lower the bar of expectations but by doing that I'd be lowering them as people and I don't want that. I feel that if I correct them once more, I'll lose em and I don't want that.
On the plus side, my sister from another mister understands completely and is willing to stand up for me to anyone as I am willing to stand up for her. Another jem in my life that was introduced to me today was when I told her that I really liked the name Spencer and wouldn't mind being called that at all. She smiled and said that she could start callin me Spencer and Andy alternatively from now on if I wanted to. It feels so good to have people like that in ones life when ones parents are completely against their kid.
I realise this has literally nothing to do with our boy Thomas but he has nb friends and thanks to them I gathered the courage to come out myself. I feel safer in this community bc I know y'all understand. 💛
