what is morphology?
That’s a good question. For an answer, lets look at the roots of the word. The word “Morph” meaning for something to be transformed. “Ology” meaning for something to be studied. Thus, “Morphology” is the study of how things are transformed. If you put that through a magical lens, it means you are studying how one can make things transform through the use of magic. If you are familiar with Starswirl the Bearded’s work, he had gone into the area of Amniomorphology. The root “Amnio” meaning prenatal, while we have already gone over the definition of “Morph”. I bring this up, because it is a more popularly known spell, among would-be parents. That, being an example of Morphology and its application in every day life. In essence, it is manipulation and changing of matter. Similar to alchemy without any symbols. It is a very versatile, and useful school of magic with many sub sets such as Amniomorphology, Geomorphology, Biomorphology, ect. All of which being encompassed by the broad term “Morphology.” I hope that has answered your question. If you have any more, please feel free to ask.
