Hunting is a dangerous life. It’s been proven more than once to Claude. Currently, he’s at a bar and dealing with the loss of a close friend. But he’s not dealing with it too well. In fact, anyone paying a bit of attention could notice the dark cloud hanging over him. 

Emma usually minds her own business and stays out of everyone’s way. Being a runaway means trying to be unseen, unheard. But when she sees what the guy did at the ATM, she realizes that it might be worth speaking up just this once. Following him down the street, she hitches her backpack up onto her shoulder. “Hey. Got a sec?” 

“You’re a vampire. I’m a hunter. I think that’s a pretty simple principle to get.” 

“Benny. I’m guessing that Dean called you?”

Claire’s been out hunting and scavenging for supplies all day. Once she sets up her campsite, she starts to look through her backpack to get an inventory of everything she’s found. It’s not much but it should hold her over for a couple of days. A couple of boxes of cereal, two cans of soup and some beans were worth the back to back days on the road. Now, she just wants to eat and relax before moving on again the next day. 

“I know what it’s like to want to do whatever you can to protect your kid. Hell, I gave mine up so he’d have a better life. I just thought you should know that the Serpents aren’t the only ones that have your back.” 

Kimberly was coming out of the coffee shop when her phone went off. Trying to grab it from her pocket to see who it was, she completely stopped paying attention to where she was going. The next thing she knows, she’s bumping into someone and nearly spilling her coffee all over them. Luckily, she caught herself in time thanks to her reflexes. “Oh, wow. I’m so sorry. Totally my fault. I didn’t get anything on you, did I?”
