I like the idea that he did look it up in his dictionary because he wanted to see what the human common version of the orcish word for "love" is. Maybe there are multiple ways to say "I love you" in orcish but not all are explicitly romantic and he just doesn't want to misinterpret the reader. He totally didn't sound out the word over and over again, imagining the reader saying it to him or anything.
But I think even if he didn't already know the Human word for love, he would have understood reader's confession as a confession of love. Cus their love breaks language barriers or something sappy like that idk.
