I’m working daily to remove certain words and phrases from my communications with others. And I have decided to do so primarily because we are sending mixed messages of how we view ourselves and also within our community. We can’t expect to be treated as Kings and Queens when we respond to Nigga and Bitch. I understand, for myself, these words have been commonly spoken and accepted as norm, but I would rather be spoken to with respect and dignity. I am here in Dubai for the very 1st time! In the midst of a whole bunch of firsts, two things caught my eye....the day room that I rented provides a prayer mat and the airport has multiple prayer rooms throughout.
