...did you mean for that to look like a fish..? (like fancy plating) or is it just me???
LOL I didn’t, but now that you’ve pointed it out I totally see it!

... Now I'm desperately curious about grilled eggs. Hardboiled and sliced? Raw eggs just rolling across the grill? I genuinely have no idea how you'd manage that :D
I imagine you could do it on a propane grill, but I had a charcoal grill back then and I just sort of...I hated wasting thermal energy if that makes sense. So once I was done cooking food, if there was residual heat, I’d take the grill off, make a bit of a hole in the charcoal ash with a pair of tongs, and set a couple of eggs in the hole, then cover them. Usually I wrapped them in foil and left one end sticking up so I could just pull them out and unwrap them when they were done. I’d let them sit in the ash while the whole thing cooled down, and when the grill was cool I’d have a couple of smoky-flavored hard-cooked eggs!

Semi related my top favorite grilled food here in China is eggplant! People will slice and skewer it but best of all is when it's halved then smothered in minced garlic. Grill each half up on some tin foil yummm
I’ve seen that done here, too! I’m not a huge eggplant fan, but it does look pretty good grilled :)

I used to have that same nightmare about rats (after we stopped keeping them), the sense of guilt and shame is unbearable isn't it? Weirdly, I never had that dream while we actually *had* rats, though.
Mostly it was worry -- I’d always be trying to FIND him because he must be so thirsty and hungry, and I never could.

You could probably add "check the kittens' collars" to your weekly to do list. That way as they grow you'll feel confident they're still comfortable.
That’s exactly what I ended up doing! I put it on my calendar to check their collars every two weeks.

Looks like feed sack fabric. According to my great aunts everyone's quilts and dresses all looked the same at the time. I'm going to presume yours is of the same period and, indeed, the quilt will last nigh on to forever I still have my great grandmother's
I don’t know if it was actual feed sack -- I think it was made in the 60s or 70s -- but it might have been feed sack imitation! I hadn’t thought of that.
