Castus looked up at the man and, after a pause, shook his head.
“It matters not,” He insisted, tone light as though they were discussing the weather. “I stand a Cilician to your people after they have been betrayed by such people and lost those they loved. They must blame someone.”
He was not being a martyr, he simply knew that there was little Spartacus could do. Castus had to prove himself to all a valuable asset or he would simply be a scapegoat. He alone had control over this.
