🍋cough drops for stony please?
Yesyesyes <3
@strange-capers I borrowed the spaghetti au again 🧡🐱For some allergic smol Steve and his very soft husband.
The last thing Steve expects after a long day in the art studio is to find Tony waiting for him in his office. Not that it isn’t a welcome sight; he can feel himself almost sag with relief, the day had been so long. He was exhausted, too, had been up half the night coughing and attempting to blow his nose. His weather app tells him this is due to “unseasonably high” grass pollen counts this week, and Steve was definitely suffering for it.
“Honey,” Tony says in greeting, his voice warm and fond and sympathetic in that way he saves just for Steve.
And Steve… Steve doesn’t even say anything, just walks over to where Tony sits at his desk, and tucks himself onto his husband’s lap, winding his arms around Tony and burying his face in the crook of his neck. If Steve could smell at all, he wouldn’t be able to miss the familiar, homey scent of laundry detergent from Tony’s freshly washed cardigan, the one he wore nearly year-round, since the lecture halls he taught in were almost always cold, his citrus shampoo, and just a spritz of the cologne Steve bought him for his last birthday, lingering on his skin even after a long day. But Steve doesn’t need any of that to feel right at home with Tony’s arms wrapped around him.
“If this is the hello I get, I should surprise you here more often,” Tony says into Steve’s collarbone, pressing kisses as he goes, soft enough that they make Steve shiver.
“Hmph, hi,” Steve says, nuzzling his face into Tony’s shoulder once more before looking up for a proper kiss hello.
“You look beat,” Tony tells him. “More tired and itchy than this morning, plus… grumpy?” Tony guesses.
“All true,” Steve admits. “I-Ih.. Itshh! Itsh! Hh’eiiyiSHh! Snf! Bless mbe, sorry, it’s been like this all snf! day,” Steve says, rubbing at his nose.
And it really had. Despite taking his medicine, and staying inside, and rubbing at his nose, Steve’s day had been fit after endless fit of itchy little sneezes that did exactly nothing to help how stuffy he felt.
“I know, bless you, sweetheart. Good news is, I brought reinforcements,” Tony reaches around blindly for the floor, nearly toppling them before he makes a triumphant little sound and pulls up a CVS bag.
“More tissues, and the lemon honey cough drops you like, because your throat always gets all itchy and sore when your allergies are bad, too. And a few bottles of green tea, for tomorrow,” Tony kisses the tip of Steve’s nose, making it flare and twitch at the gentle touch. “And there’s pizza in the car. That’s mostly because I’m selfish and would rather laze around with you and Spaghetti tonight than cook, but still.”
“Thank you,” Steve says, hugging himself in close to Tony again. “I guess I have to get up if we want to actually eat tonight,” he mumbles into Tony’s shoulder. All day he wanted nothing more than to be home with his husband and kitten, but now that Tony was here, moving seemed far less important.
He pulls away when his nose gives another threatening twitch around the edges, ducking his face into his elbow. “Hih’tshh! ItSHiew! Tsh!” Steve sighs, pushing at his nose with his knuckle.
“Bless you, honey. And yeah, eventually. Spaghetti misses you, I’m sure. You know how she gets when you aren’t feeling well,” Tony reminds him with a kiss to his cheek.
“As cuddly as you,” Steve agrees. “Hh’itsh! Tshiew! Ugh, bless mbe.”
“Plus, it’s safe to say you’ll be like this all night. Might as well be comfortable.”
Tony stands without loosening his grip on Steve, and for a minute, Steve’s tempted to just hang onto him, as ridiculous as that might be. Instead, he drops to the floor and helps Tony gather up the CVS bags. Steve doesn’t even protest when Tony takes off his cardigan and drapes it around his shoulders, just links their hands together gratefully and heads for home.
