NASA satellite crash: Spacecraft to reenter Earth after years in orbit
A massive NASA satellite is crashing back into Earth's atmosphere after spending more than a decade in orbit.
The Allen Probe Ais expected to reenter Earth at 5: 45 p.m. MT/6:45 p.m. CT on Tuesday, March 10 after nearly 14 years in orbit, according to NASA. The 1,300-pound satellite is expected to burn up as it travels through the atmosphere, but some components are expected to survive — the risk of harm coming to anyone on Earth is "low" at approximately 1 in 4,200, NASA officials said.
