1984 Dune Spice Scout
This was my very quick scratchbuild of one of the barely seen vehicles in the 1984 film Dune. A small ribbed plastic tree ornament, some scrap plastic shapes, and a plastic clothing hanger trimmed to length.
here is the "signal ship," military-style shuttlecraft I worked on for S I G N A L.
I personally think the film doesn't show it off too well but I have a rough cut finished and will have a final release (and a few other treats) for you all soon
Attack of the greeblies -- Super Galactic Dreadnoughts were large metal starship models by Superior Models, Inc, distributed by Alnavco in the US and Citadel in the UK (ad from The Space Gamer 29, Metagaming, July 1980) Monday Knight Productions now makes these in metal and resin, along with the rest of the 5 Starfleet Wars fleets under the “Galactic Knights” name. Alnavco is in its 52nd year of business and now owns and makes Superior’s 20th c naval lines.
Comparison of spaceship miniatures by Valiant, Superior, Eisenwerk, and Zocchi, from Michael Willner’s review in Ares magazine 5, SPI, November 1980. Valiant is still making their Stardate 3000 range, and Monday Knight has Superior’s Starfleet Wars under a new name. Zocchi’s Star Fleet Battles ships went to Starfighter Shipyards. Eisenwerk’s ships were still OOP last I heard.

Art Update/Potential Spaceship Film Miniature Commission?
about art commissions- I'm getting there. very slowly. one excruciating step at a time. I havent been doing so hot lately but I'm getting better.
in the meantime, just because Its what I'm obsessing over right now and I might as well make some money off of it-
If you are making a scifi short film or anything like that and you could make use of a higher quality custom spaceship miniature to film with- message me or send me an email at [email protected] and I would be happy to build you one at a relatively low commission cost. Hell, even if you just want a spaceship model, I'd be more than happy to make one. Just let me know!
I'll keep you guys updated. I know I haven't been so active lately, that trend probably won't change too much until the semester is done unfortunately.
