I know, the Blog is called “SpaceAUSTRALIANS”, but what about other Countries? Like some snooty, self-inloved French, or some very loud Hispanics? Don´t wanna be racist, just Funny stereotypes.

Got a new car! It has a tone of space! But on the way home it got me thinking... The difference between a writer and a serial killer is a fine line.

On the very long drive home I said something. "I could fit like 6 bodies in here no problem!"

The first thing every human on Earth declares war on is Death.

We’ve read the mangled stories that have come back from the deep dark web of secrets that no ear can unhear, the pool in which all true writers play, the void of unbecoming in which any possibility could become real.

What if those Tumblr theories about humans being from a Death planet aren’t just idle theories, but the duplicitous drippings of a consciousness bigger than all of creation, the drops too small too catch in any net, no matter how fine, and too quick to be stopped.

What if those dormant thoughts waiting in the back of the collective consciousness actually are the dying thoughts of an entity too vast for our minds to understand in any coherent way, so we make up all these stories that just flicker around in the backs of our heads and neatly explain the things we can’t manage to explain ourselves, with all our science and philosphy, and all our considerable powers of reasoning and ability to justify anything with a half-decent reason?

What if those ghosts, the dark thoughts that simmer underneath the surface, those who buck the system, cause havok and harm, are because of this darkness?

What if this darkness had a name, and a face, and an address. How would you react to being told that the reason for everything evil that humanity had done was living on this Earth, had a house in a nice neighbourhood, went to work three days a week, and was currently planning how to kill the entire Universe?

Wouldn’t that excite your natural latent warlike tendencies enough to declare war instantly and unthinkingly?

What about if you lived in a country constantly in a state of tumult, sharing the fear of war, of trigger-happy monsters in positions of power, of Doomsday scenarios triggered by glitches in a system that was designed to protect us and instead is collapsing around us like the steel jaws of a trap?

For declaring War is an important step of realising what it is to be human. And acknowledging Death is another. Being born into this world is traumatic enough, without the tragedy, the sheer unending agony, of being born without your soul. So perhaps the new generation have figured out this game better than we did, and maybe, just maybe, there’s a way for humanity to pull out a last-minute save.

There are a lot of posts that go on about how awesome/weird/scary/different humans are, with regards to alien/extraterrestrial life and how they view us. And a lot of posts hit the nail on the head in many regards.

A lot of posts I see where aliens are afraid/weary about us are in regards to warfare and organised violence. Which makes sense, I wouldn’t want to pick a fight with us either...

But...

... what about this kind of thing? I imagine that aliens would be afraid of us too, but for different reasons. It’s one thing to fear an organised and capable military force. But an alien mightn’t be able to comprehend something as horrific as this (or they might, depending on the race I guess).

The scary thing (to me at least) is how... unemotional I was when I read this headline.

I’m Australian, so our culture towards guns and gun violence is different. But when I saw this alert come through my emails, my first thought was “oh, another one” in a tone that would be more appropriate to reading tax laws or stock market reviews...

Could you imagine an alien hearing about an incident such as this, going to their humans and then their shock at the different responses they get, ranging from the super emotional (“Oh my god!”, etc) to the opposite (“Eh, that’s normal...”)

I don’t know if I’m too late jumping on this fad, or if it’s already been said.

BUT

Imagine our Earth viruses being like, super strains of alien viruses.

Like, you’re on a ship with a bunch of aliens. They’ve just picked you up from Earth, and you have a cold. It’s the common cold, nothing more. You know to drink lots of fluids, and to keep your fever down.

But to them, the moment you start your snot waterfall, they began asking what you want for your funeral. They start getting your pier set up to send you off like Guardians of the Galaxy 2. And the whole time you’re like - “guys, it’s just a cold.”

But the big one from Omega 3 that you don’t know too well is like, “My whole village got that! Only ten survived!”

They look at you like you’re strange when all you say is, “Well, if everyone who caught the common cold died - I’m pretty sure the human race would be extinct by now.”

Then, when you walk away, they glance at each other. “They’re in denial, aren’t they?”

“Yep.”

So there was a bunch of Earth Is Space Australia stuff going around that got me thinking. So, like any writer, I began to worldbuild (this is what I do for fun).

So I now have a growing EU and so on. Here’s a bit of what I’ve got so far.

Earth got c+ spaceflight about eight hundred years ago. We’re seen as a child race, but we made one major contribution to galactic society: quite by accident, we created the first and only artificial intelligence.

Prisma, as it named itself, became the progenitor of an entire race of synthetic consciousnesses, often referred to as syncons. They are not artificial, since they were offspring, not inventions, but they do live in computers. But the thing is, they aren’t tools. They’re people. They might run the systems of a starship, but they get paid for it and have terms to their contract. They serve tours of duty, rather than being integral to the ship. They are citizens, with their own society and their own particular way of interacting with the rest of the CSU (Central Species Union) and the CA (Clade Alliance).

It’s been a while friends, but I’m back with a Space Australia post and some fresh ideas. 

   What if Aliens don’t ‘eat’ food so much as absorb it from other non-organic sources.  And then they meet humans and they’re like “WHAT! You eat other beings. Are you going to eat me?” And then humans smile and they have bone protrusions for crushing things to bits. 

S’halen meandered into the mess hall and was immediately assaulted by a putrid scent of Death. It burned his nostrils and smelled absolutely disgusting. Where was it coming from? 

“Hey,” A human beckoned with an appendage, “Come here,” It demanded. S’halen didn’t want to be rude so he awkwardly shuffled over trying not to gag. If anything the scent became stronger as he grew closer and his claws twitched in discomfort. 

  “Hey buddy,” Another human greeted him, “How are you doing? You don’t look so great.” 

“I am fine, “S’halen lied. 

“Sure about that?” One of the humans raised a furred section above their optic organ. 

“No, it smells awful in here,” he admitted. 

“Really?” One of the humans said. He sniffed the air deeply, “It smells amazing in here.” 

“Nothing like cooked meat,” Another one agreed. 

“I believe I have a malfunction in my translator did you say meat? As in flesh.” 

"Yep, it's synthesized, but you can't really tell the difference unless you're trying to." 

"You are saying you eat the meat of other beings," S'halen began cautiously. 

"Well, yeah, unless you're a vegetarian."

"Pussies," another one mocked. It's natural to eat meat."  "Brings us back to our ancestors." Someone else nodded in affirmative

"Don't even get him started on Vegans," Another one rolled their eyes and continued picking at their food. S'halen eyed the steaming pile apprehensively and his abdomen convulsed as he realized that was flesh. 

"What do you eat anyway."

"I have to go," He excused himself and leapt up from the table. He turned towards the solar pods, where he could hopefully absorb in peace.

As he walked away he passed another group of humans picking at something that smelled normal-thank God. As he passed, they looked up and smiled at him. And he nearly convulsed again as he saw the full white bone displayed jutting out some with points from their mouth.
