1950s Jazz in Orbit
David Brent Johnson embraces a rather whimsical concept for this entertaining edition of his Night Lights program, pulling together ‘50s jazz compositions with moon or orbit or other NASA-inspired terms as Space Age Jazz. The music ranges from Shorty Rogers to Gil Melle to Duke Ellington to, of course, Sun Ra. George Russell is conspicuously absent in the mix.
