Say hello to one of my newest characters, Mono! I’m sure some of you know who they are already, but i feel its good to explain again!
I found them on a lost and pound board. Their full pet name is Monopolylogue, which means an actor who plays several characters in a production.
When i saw them i HAD to get them, my inner movie nerd was screaming at me to get them.
I originally had no idea what to do with them, i kinda just got them for the name :V then i got an idea, make them apart of my space crew story!
So my space crew story, whats that all about? Well it's something i've been meaning to develop for a while. During the really far into the future part of the timeline, the world my characters reside on is dying, so many are fleeing to go find a new planet to live on, but what does this crew consist of? Thats why i havent really been able to develop it, because i didn't know what sort of characters to add.
And then, i got mono! The gears in my head started to turn, but still nothing fully conceived yet.
But a few nights ago, i had a dream.
Mono and their crew members accidentally got shot into space while in their cryogenic chambers. The people who sent them on their mission managed to find Mono, but not the others, so now they have to go and find their fellow crew members.
I reworked it a bit to fit with their character, which is them being a double agent. Originally, Mono managed to fake their way onto the crew they were on with the help of a crime group they were apart of. The plan was Mono was going to sneak onto the ship, and before they were to go into cryosleep send those who already entered cryosleep would be launched into space, leaving Mono with the ship to themselves. The idea would be that they would use their ship to become "space pirates", using their ship to attack other ships and steal their technology for themselves.
Thing was, when Mono entered the crew, they kinda accidentally made friends with some of them. So far I only have one of the members developed, but yea they make friends with them and have second thoughts. They tried to tell the leader that they didn't want to go through with it anymore, but that made them furious. Mono then eventually went into Cryosleep with the other members.
The leader then had one of their members hack into the ships security, having all the pods ejected, including Monos. If they couldn't have the ship, then no one could.
Mono is eventually awakened from their sleep because they ran out of oxygen in their tanks due to a malfunction. They send a distress message, but pass out soon afterwards.
They're eventually picked up by the ones who sent them and are immediately sent to the infirmary for possible brain damage from lack of oxygen to the brain. They're kinda sent into a coma for a while but hey, THEY MAKE IT OUT OKAY! ᕕ( ᐕ )ᕗ
Obviously they dont immediately tell them they know who caused the pods to malfunction, but they're dead set on getting the crew back.
Their story is still in development, but this is the gist of it. I'm excited to work on their character because SPACE and also because I need to get out of my comfort zone a bit. I'm more experienced with older themes (19th century and whatnot) and magic. I dont really explore cyperpunk and futuristic themes, my style for futuristic themes is more post apocalyptic and poverty stricken areas.
So yea, expect to see them some more in the future! They'll probably be featured somewhat frequently, more so than others im expecting thanks to that space aesthetic lmao
also one last note before i go, their pronouns are they/them!
