Lance finds an Altean board game on the ship and shit gets Real.

Keith: Lance all of this is in Altean we can’t even read the rules.

Lance: You’re just bitter because your piece landed in the Weblum of Destruction and you have to lose three turns.

They kind of just start this thing where they throw stuff at each other (nothing big that would hurt just like, wads of paper or whatever) to ““test each other’s reflexes.””

Lance: Keith think fast! *popcorn kernel bounces off Keith’s head.*

Yeah sure it started off as this joke thing but they start pulling off some really cool moves and one time Lance does some epic flip/roll/thing in battle and Keith’s just like “You’re welcome.”

Lance ends up telling Keith all about his family and just like, telling him which family members Keith would get along with and stuff and spilling family drama and Keith kind of just gets sucked into it.

Lance: So my sister was all pissed at Nick because-

Keith: Wait, Nick is the cousin who dumped glitter on your head when you were six, right?

Lance: That’s the bitch.

Keith: Okay continue.

They’re involved in a never-ending rock-paper-scissors tournament

It happens anytime, anywhere, and not participating results in an automatic loss.

It’s currently 40-29 in Keith’s favor, but Lance is convinced he’s got a winning streak coming.

The loser is technically supposed to grant whatever request the winner has, but they both know that’s never gonna happen. 

Until one day, after the war is over and they’re home, Keith tries to end it. 

Of course the game he intended to be the last one leads to a tie.

Lance is happy because he’s having none of this “I’m ending the tournament because I don’t think we’ll see each other again” bull crap.

Mitaka set the tray down and helped him sit up, then offered him the bowl of soup before pulling off his uniform gloves and hat to lay them aside. “You’re on the Finalizer,” he said. “A First Order military vessel. You’ve been… quite unwell. There’s water here if you need it.”

Unprompted, he grabbed a pillow and stuffed it lightly behind Peter’s back to help keep him propped up. Neither the pillow nor the sheets were particularly comfortable, but they did the job. “Do you remember how you got here?” Dopheld asked quietly, clasping both hands in front of his knees as he sat down on the chair beside the bed.

Peter could have panicked at the thought of being anywhere he didn’t know, and most certainly didn’t head into out of will or desire... But the man seemed nice enough, and sincerely the kid wasn’t well. He couldn’t take him if he tried.
