This buttermilk fried chicken sandwich made in the Southern style is the ultimate comfort food. It's crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside, and full of classic toppings that will make you happy.
Ingredients: 4 boneless, skinless chicken breasts. 2 cups buttermilk. 2 cups all-purpose flour. 1 teaspoon paprika. 1 teaspoon garlic powder. 1 teaspoon onion powder. 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper. Salt and pepper to taste. Vegetable oil, for frying. 4 sandwich buns. Lettuce leaves. Sliced tomatoes. Mayonnaise. Pickles optional.
Instructions: Put chicken breasts in a bowl and pour buttermilk over them. Let it sit for at least an hour, or better yet, overnight. Put the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper in a shallow dish. Mix them together. Put the vegetable oil in a big skillet and heat it over medium-high heat. Take the chicken out of the buttermilk and coat it in the flour mixture. Shake off any extra flour. Do not drop the chicken into the hot oil without being careful. Fry for about 6 to 8 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and fully cooked. Take the chicken out of the oil and put it on paper towels to drain. If you want to, lightly toast the sandwich buns. On both sides of the bun, spread mayonnaise. On the bottom half of the bun, put lettuce leaves, sliced tomatoes, fried chicken, and pickles if you're using them. Place the other half of the bun on top and serve right away.
