Stiles checked his watch. Half passed four. The new hired help would’ve arrived by now, being greeted warmly by his old man and being shown the ins and outs of the place. But it wasn’t a maid or a gardener they were hiring, and his old man wasn’t any rich dude and the house wasn’t any old sultry mansion. No, to put it simply, the new help was a body guard. And his old man was the President. And the house he would be shown would be the good ol’ White House.

Not that Stiles knew that was exactly what was going on. Nah, he had snuck out a couple hours ago, gone to downtown DC in a hoodie and sunglasses to have a smoke, walk the streets and over all avoid meeting the new guy who would evidently become his shadow.

His dad hadn’t been in office long, not even a full year yet. And already murmurs of his rebellious son were starting to leak their way onto the internet. Stiles, himself, didn’t see it as rebelling. He would just rather go to a video game store and local cafes and enjoy his time as a teenager, not kiss babies and shake hands with a bunch of withering old men. He didn’t know many teenagers who would want to do that.

He didn’t mean to make his dad look bad or anything. Okay, so it was kinda fun to get a rise out of him every once and a while. But today, he just didn’t want to meet this Agent Smith lookalike who would be tailing 5 inches at his heels with a gun and an earpiece at all hours of the day. There were even talks of putting their bedrooms next to each other, with only a door to separate them. Um, thanks but no thanks. 

He leaned back in his chair and glanced around at the people walking by. No one stopped to look twice at him. Perks of city life, everyone was always in their own heads. Looking to his right, he cursed quietly as he noticed two Secret Service agents, Boyd and Erica, talking to a shop owner. They had his picture in their hands.

Whoever pegged Derek for being calm and calculated couldn’t have been more wrong. His forced apathy in some situations was often mistaken for quiet calculation, where he was attempting to detach himself from situations so his emotions wouldn’t cloud his judgement. So at that moment, he was far from collected, pulse rising as he moved forward and promptly bumped their noses together, nearly knocking Erica to the ground by virtue of his own uneven footing. 

Their lips barely brushed, and Derek was blinking a few times, biting back a bitter laugh at the awkward tension between them.

who believes in love at first sight?Erica does. She’s a hopeless romantic, and she often pretends her life is a John Hughes movie, even though with someone like Knox she nows it’ll never be like that.

who started liking the other first?Knox mostly, even if it’s just because she seems like the kind of girl he would never be able to get. Erica only likes Knox because he is someone her father would never approve of, someone different from what she is used to.who is more likely to suggest a romantic, candle-lit dinner?Neither of them. With her father being the sheriff, it’s not like they can just go out, and having dinner at Erica’s is extremely out of the question. And Knox would rather be caught dead than invite the prim and proper Erica to his place.

who’s behind the wheel more often during road trips?Knox. It’s his car, and Erica couldn’t drive a stick shift to save her life. So instead, she kicks back in the passenger seat and is in charge of the music. And Knox just lets her.who sets up the tent and who gathers firewood during a camping trip?Again, Knox. He’s a manly man, and he feels that’s his job. who hooks bait during a fishing trip? who catches more fish?Knox. Erica doesn’t fish. She’ll just lays on the beach, or stretch out in the small boat, working on her tan. Or, teasing the hell out of him, depending on how you look at it.who insists on learning how to ballroom dance?This one is all Erica. She used to dance when she was little, something her mother always insisted on, and she is hellbent on teaching Knox.who goes all out on the other’s birthday?Not like they can, but Erica will bake Knox a cake with candles, and buy him a small gift. He will take her out on a road trip to the coast for the weekend to sleep on the beach, make love in the sand and watch the sun set and rise.

who sings louder while cooking? while showering?Erica. She likes to think she can sing, but she really can’t. Knox will hum along to the radio, but that’s about it. 

who teases the other for said singing?Knox. He will make fun of Erica, but not in a rude way.

who insists on checking their zodiac sign compatibility every so often?Neither of them really believe in zodiac signs, however, Erica did when her and Knox first started seeing one another, but she’ll never say that out loud.

It was nothing weird, for Erica to step into the police station, a brown paper bag in hand with her father’s favourite lunch from the diner on the other side of town. She did so every Saturday when he worked, and today was no different. Greeting the other officers as she walked through the station, she smiled at them, the hem of her skirt ruffling around her knees, her blouse buttoned all the way up, covered by a cardigan, and flat shoes on her feet.

As she approached his desk, she saw him filling out paperwork, just as some guy, looking quite intimidating with tattoos up his neck, and piercing green eyes crossed her path, and she stood still. Everything about him screamed trouble, but for some reason, she couldn’t keep her eyes off him. Erica had never seen him before, and judging by the words he whispered into her ear as they passed one another, he had no idea she was the sheriff’s daughter either.

At the raunchy pick up line, she reached out, and smacked him across the face, her cheeks a bright red.

“Don’t you dare talking to me like that again,” she hissed.

But little did he know that was merely a cover up, because he was the first person to ever approach her like that, and his words, along with his appearance left her weak in the knees, and wet in her panties.
