#sorting clothes

1). Put on something like underwear and an undershirt

2). Put all your clothes into a pile

3). Go through the pile one item at a time, first just checking to see if you like the items, sort them into “keep” “donate” and “throw away” piles, you decide how to decide what goes where

4). Go through your keep pile, put on one item at a time, if it fits put it in one pile, if it doesnt put it in one of the other piles.

5). Find somewhere to store the donate pile until you can drop it off

When we had gotten all the clothes, we moved them down in the school basement. Out teacher found some big plastic bags, so we could sort the clothes. We divided them into two main groups;  boys and girls clothing. In those two groups we had four age groups to sort into, one bag could for example be filled with girl clothing for 11-14 year olds, and another for 5-10 year olds. We also had two bags for adult clothing, another bag for toys, and one dedicated to shoes and accessories. The sorting took quite some time, as it was a lot of clothing to sort. The entire sorting took a little over a month, probably. When we finally were done, we had to load all the bags into a truck.

And it’s done!

I don’t have a picture, because it’s all been packed away, except for the last pieces of clothing I might need until I move, so I saved enough for ten more days in a bag.

Most of it got folded nicely too. And I got an entire bag full of dirty/torn clothes, and another one full of stuff to go to charity.

The one thing I didn’t clean out was dresses, but I’m using the hanger trick on those as soon as I move in, and I don’t exactly horde dresses like I do socks, so I don’t really need to cull there.
