summary: written for hearts prompt on soonwoonet; just an android!au with android!soonyoung and human!wonwooÂ
“wonwoo, what's a heart?” soonyoung asks with his head in wonwoo's lap, staring out the window and at whatever little stretch of soft cotton candy pink sky he can see from his position. wonwoo's fingers stop carding through his hair and the human shifts the book away so he can look down at soonyoung. soonyoung's facial recognition sensors tell him that wonwoo is part curious and part confused.Â
“i'm sure your database can answer that better than i can.” wonwoo ends up saying and soonyoung reaches up a hand to push wonwoo's glasses up where they've slipped down the bridge of his nose but instead of retracting his hand back to his chest once wonwoo's silver-rimmed glasses are in place, his hand lingers in mid-air and wonwoo eyes the appendage with more curiosity than confusion.Â
eventually, soonyoung wraps his arms around wonwoo's shoulders and sits himself on wonwoo's lap before pressing his lips against wonwoo's.Â
the micro-nerves in his lips tell him that wonwoo's lips are 36.7 degree celsius and slightly chapped. the peck lasts an entire 5 seconds before soonyoung's eyes are slipping open and his right hand is coming up to press against exactly where the human heart beats beneath the ribcage. the beatings of wonwoo's heart is slightly above the average heart beats per minute for wonwoo's gender and age group and soonyoung tells the human so.Â
wonwoo gives a breathless laugh and tucks soonyoung's head into the crook of his neck and soonyoung can hear the drumming of a human heart this close to a carotid artery. when he compares the graph of what he's hearing and feeling, it matches up perfectly; beating just a tad faster than normal figures.Â
“is your heart fluttering? it's a muscle, not a butterfly wing. how can a muscle flutter?” soonyoung asks, conjured curiosity pushing him on.Â
“it doesn't. it's more of a feeling than anything but i suppose it refers to the acceleration too?” the pitch and tone of wonwoo's voice tells soonyoung that he's uncertain. soonyoung draws the conclusion that this is a human thing. something he, an android, will probably never be able to understand or even actually feel because the reports on the web network tell him that nothing will ever be able to imitate a human heart, that that is how they tell machine and human apart.Â

summary: written for friends prompt on soonwoonet; a typical high school!au where they have freshly graduated thoughÂ
“now what?” soonyoung asks as he plops down on his bed next to wonwoo who is still trying to find a silver lining in the bright, blonde disaster atop his head. there's no silver lining no matter the angle and he puts down the mirror with a sigh.Â
“now's the time for me to give you a new present i guess.” soonyoung averted his gaze from the mess on his desk to wonwoo, looking at him curiously. “i mean, you hand-dyed my hair so i was thinking about personally doing something for you too.” wonwoo met his gaze head on and his eyes trailed to soonyoung's new piercing, the area still a little red and sensitive. they had both agreed to go to a professional instead of having wonwoo pierce him with a safety pin, what with soonyoung's fear of needles and any possible infection. soonyoung's lips formed a silent 'oh'.
“so if there's anything i can give you, tell me.” wonwoo laughs as he leans backwards and lies down on soonyoung's bed, staring up at the ceiling filled with glow-in-the-dark stars.Â
soonyoung turned his eyes back onto the mess on his desk and thinks about the confessions written in the margins of his notes, professions of blossoming love scrawled across blank pages and doodles of a stick figure with glasses and the cutest of smiles. “there is something only you can give.” soonyoung starts, heart thumping at the realisation that he's going to do this.
“what's that?” wonwoo chuckles and soonyoung gulps, turning to face a smiling wonwoo who had propped himself up on his elbows to meet soonyoung's gaze. he almost squints; from both the jarring brightness of wonwoo's blonde hair and the sunshine smile that only wonwoo seems to have.
“i like you.” soonyoung exhales, keeping his eyes on wonwoo. the smile is frozen in place and soonyoung can see the gears turning in his head, the twitch of his lips and the furrow of his brows.Â
“soonyoung, i—”Â
“i know, wonwoo, i know. i just wanted to live with no regrets, yolo right?” he laughs but wonwoo's frown doesn't ease.Â
“it's alright,” he assures, smiling. “how 'bout you treat me to some barbecue, jeon best friend?” wonwoo looks like he wants to argue, wants to something but instead he sits up and pinches both of soonyoung's cheeks.Â
“get me a beanie, my hair's too embarrassing.”
