more...!!! (love them so bad)
god blake's 7 would have been so good if they remembered all the awesome female characters in the main cast instead of just putting them on teleport duty. like cmon man we got
Jenna Stannis, tough-as-nails smuggler and ace pilot, as cool as Han Solo thinks he is
Cally, surprisingly nurturing suicide bomber telepath who's exiled from her planet and has a whole honor complex about it and is also maybe a clone(?)
Deyna Mellanby, martial arts expert and engineering genius, whose excitable and somewhat naive personality contrasts darkly with her obsession with revenge against Servalan
Soolin, mercenary sniper with a tragic past
like please come on you could do so much with all that!!
Anyone else ever think about how well Vila's introduction sets him up for the whole series. Within a minute of meeting him we learn he's a thief who hates personal violence and boy does he stick to that.
Sure, letting them think he's a coward and an idiot makes him an easy target, but he'd take a few jibes and snide comments over being dead. He's alive because he has valuable skills, and if he doesn't take himself too seriously and avoids danger, no one will consider him a threat. He knows this.
Even when we learn more about him (his magic tricks and riddles, his weakness for alcohol and gambling, the fact that he's actually quite a loyal and honest person, for a thief) it feels like a natural offshoot of what we know already. He didn't have a plan to bring down the federation, he just had sleight of hand and nowhere else to go. Is he really a coward, or is running a fair response to being hunted by a government that regularly massacres its opponents? He didn't sign up for this shit. He just wanted to find somewhere peaceful to settle down and start a family, same as a lot of people. He was not made for the fugitive life and it is both satisfying and heartbreaking that we can look back and almost see that from the first moment he appears.
Shoutout to Vila Restal, realest guy on the federation's most wanted list.
The cold-blooded mercenary.

Soolin in every Blake's 7 episode: S04E13 - Blake
The scene in the Blake's 7 finale when they all got into the chrysler speeder made of cardboard
The fact that hardly anyone one actually cares about my girl Soolin is so sad. She is just a wild character.
