I plan to have another post with more information in the style of a nature journal going into detail about each species of flicky and some other fun world building bits related to other sonic characters. Hope you enjoy! :)

Probably not gonna post too much more while I work on this headcanon ref sheet since it's gonna pretty big, but here's a snippet of what I have so far. These are known as the "Common Flicky", the most abundant Flicky type found around Mobius in the wild. They're highly intelligent and are also considered companion birds for some Mobians that can learn mimicked speech like a parrot. They come in the greatest variety of color patterns, but mostly stick to the blue to light green range with a third and/or fourth accent color. They're Dr. Eggman's favorite animal to capture on a consistent basis due to their high population density and even higher energy reserves to power his badniks. Overall there are currently 4 well known species of Flickies documented that have different body shapes and color palettes depending on region, temperament and abilities i'll be exploring later.

Work in progress sketch I made yesterday in a private discord stream. This'll be part of my large headcanon post that deals with flicky birds. Tails, in this headcanon, has had his 4 flickies since around the time he met Sonic (also most notably being present while using a super form back in Sonic the Hedgehog 3 & Knuckles.) Tails' flickies are companions that come and go as they please around his house and sometimes accompany him on solo adventures or while he's working on his next invention or fixing things for someone else. His flickies will often comfort him when no one else is around to talk to be it his other friends or his brother Sonic. He confides in them quite frequently when he's feeling down or unsure, but also when excited about his work or discovering something new. They're always happy to listen either way. Finally getting back to sonic flicky redesigns using my personal favorite bird in the whole world as inspiration for the last of the 4 main flicky types in my headcanon lore. :3
