So I saw some artists that were doing a "then and now" art trend and I've always wanted to participate in something like that. Same constant advice, but you can and will improve if you keep at it. Never stop drawing

And here's an alternative for those who don't want the comic bubble.
Here it is, the very last issue of StC. A long while after the last new story had been published, so in some ways it feels less like the last issue than it could’ve done, but still. It’s here and we get one last cover from Richard Elson to see us out
It shows us what was basically the better part of the Sonic 3D arc, where Sonic gets to fight Metal Knuckles, even if it was Tails who beat him in the end. And hey, my boy Metal Knuckles got to be on the last cover, so I can be pleased about that
This wouldn’t be the last work that Elson would do for the Sonic brand either, even if it’d be a long time after this before we’d see anything from him in Sonic again. Over 21 years after this, Elson would come back to do a cover for the IDW Sonic’s special, Sonic’s 900th Adventure. It was sadly a variant cover that’s hard to find and in my experience the UK comic stores where it might’ve had more success didn’t get any more access to it than the “1 in 25” that everyone else got, but it’s still something. I’d love to see him do more covers for IDW someday. It meant a lot to us old StC fans
As well as this, Elson also drew some promotional art for Sonic R’s 23rd Anniversary, which was pretty neat and saw him draw a few characters we hadn’t seen him draw before, like Tails Doll and the Egg Robo, as well as the game’s own version of Metal Knuckles and a classic Amy without her StC upwards quills. Here it is if you’ve never seen it before:
In the original pencils, it looked a lot more StC-like, however. And even featured Super Sonic, who was omitted from the final version:
…That’s both of the examples I can remember of Elson working with Sonic after the end of the comic. But if there’s anything else that I’ve missed that you know of, I’d love to hear about it
Sonic never doubted Tails.
