Sonic the Hedgehog TV Series (1993-1994) also known as Sonic SatAM. The Sonic they should’ve gone with but decided not to. It’s got the mood of the sonic games, it’s not too childish and not too dark. Plenty of good characters and good plots about how Sonic and his mutated animal friends fight against Robotnik and his robots. Despite some dark moments in some episodes, it’s still has a very upbeat feel. And Sonic’s personality is what we’ve all imagined him to be, sarcastic but committed to defending his friends from danger.  Problem with these live action movies is that they tried too hard to make it real by trying to imagine what they would look like in real life and incorporating them into our world to see what it’s like to have them to fit in with us humans. It defeats the purpose of the game, it’s supposed to bring US to THEIR world and not the other way around, just like what we feel when we play the games. That’s something this series managed to pull off back in the 90s. Watching it make us feel that we are being transported to another world, dimension and time. Nonetheless, out of nostalgia and love of this childhood character, we’ll probably still watch the movie. And hey, Jim Carrey is back and he doesn’t look that bad as Eggman!
