- — — Ignis saw to the tipping of the movers and bid them farewell before the door closed on what could now officially be called Noctis’s new residence. It was a strange feeling, that; a mixture of excitement and sadness, pride and grief. His appointment as Noct’s advisor eleven years ago had seen him furnished with his own quarters in the royal apartments of the Citadel, and even when he had been too young to spend the full week away from his parents, he had spent most of his days located only a few doors from Noct’s room. With the Prince moved out of the Citadel, there was no longer any reason for the Advisor to reside there either, so Ignis, too, had secured himself a condominium in town. Somehow, however, this one seemed far more significant to him than the one still awaiting his own furniture.
- — — He made his way down the empty hallway to the equally empty living room, where he was greeted with the only truly familiar sight in this whole flat: the back of Noctis, standing there, looking out his picturesque new windows amidst stacks of cardboard boxes. Ignis slipped his hands into his pockets and swallowed his melancholy before Noct caught him with it, opting instead for housewarming enthusiasm.
- — — “ Well, you’ve a lovely view, ” he extolled, announcing both his opinions and his presence in the room. He gestured at the view in question as he strolled up to Noct’s left, gazing out over the panoramic cityscape alongside him. “ I think perhaps you should get a small table and some chairs for the balcony; it will be an excellent place to enjoy breakfast when the weather is agreeable. Should you still wake up for breakfast. ”
- — — Ignis smirked knowingly, but it quickly faded and became replaced with something slightly more apprehensive. He adjusted his glasses and frowned momentarily at the floor with the preoccupation of a man who wasn’t saying all he wanted to. “ I may not be right down the hall anymore, but I’ll be right down the street... If you’ve need of me. ”
