When Bree softly spoke what was pretty much a catchphrase for her at this point, Jake didn’t think too much of it. She’d ignore him for a couple of days and then they’d be back at it like the rabbits they were. So he continued to pull his shirt back over his head and grab his wallet and keys before heading to the window to make his escape before the sun rose.

“Jake,” As he stood at the window, he turned and looked at her, ready to face whatever dramatics she was about to throw his way. When he saw her face, however, Jake froze. Whoever was standing in that room with him, it wasn’t the same Bree he’d known and grown up with. This Bree was closed off and it was scary how blank her face was even with tears brimming in her eyes. That was another thing that set him off. Bree never cried. Not in front of him, at least. “I mean it.”

“You can’t do this,” He gestured between them. “Anymore?” Bree nodded, casting her eyes downward as the atmosphere grew thick with tension. What did she mean she couldn’t do this? The two of them had been her idea in the first place and now she was cutting it all off? He wanted answers but his pride wouldn’t let him sit there and beg. “Fine. Whatever.” Without wasting any time, Jake climbed out of the window and left.

After a particularly heated fight between him and Ryder, Jake really just wanted space. More than anything he wanted to punch his so called best friend in the face but unfortunately doing so would just cause more problems and he had even less patience for that than he did with literally anything else. Just as he was starting to calm down, Bree made her appearance. Sighing because he knew she wasn’t going anywhere until he at least acknowledged her, Jake merely turned his head in her direction. “Look, I don’t care what you have to say. Lynn went too far this time.”

She scoffed and rolled her eyes, making her way to his line of vision. Unable to ignore her, Jake stared down at her annoyed expression. “Just admit that was extra…”

“Extra?” Even he couldn’t keep a straight face at her choice of words. “Me?” Bree nodded, her lips pulling into a sly smile. “I was not extra. Okay, I reacted perfectly fine and normal for the situation.” Even he couldn’t believe the words coming out of his mouth. But he refused to let her win. “Isn’t there anyone else you can bother right now? Seriously, B, I am not in the mood.”

Kristina didn’t remember getting home. In fact, she hardly remembered even leaving home earlier that night, with how much she’d pre-gamed the Valentine’s Ball on an empty stomach. She’d been all tied in knots before it, though, wondering if she’d get paired with Nico, wondering if maybe there was still something there between them, wondering if she’d do something stupid again when she got more proof that there wasn’t and face Molly’s wrath again, wondering if Tally would ask her to make a scene... She’d taken a drink for every anxiety she had, and the end result had left her shit-faced and stumbling to the dance in her red dress, she was sure.

But now she was all tucked into bed, warm and cozy in pajamas, her head pounding and her mouth dry, but otherwise seemingly fine. She was just about to open her eyes and face whatever reality was when she heard a voice that she’d recognize anywhere, and a gentle squeeze on her hand. She should let Nico know she was awake. She should ask what had happened. But right now? Feeling the familiar warmth of his hand and even hearing him acknowledge he’d loved her at all once, before she’d ruined everything? That was a better Valentine than she’d expected, and Kristina kept her eyes squeezed shut. She’d deal with reality later.

In a strange twist of events, it hadn’t been Bree’s words or even the swift slap she’d greeted him with that stung Jake the most but instead the way she looked at him. For all the messed up things he’d done even before becoming a Social, she was never the one to see him as anything but Jake. But now it was all too clear that he was just as much of a stranger to her than he was himself. And he couldn’t breathe. It really hit home for him that things were really over when Bree opted to just shake her head and walk away.

“I don’t know who you are anymore.”

-Who wraps presents horribly and has to get help from the other: I am SO SURE that neither one of them is good at it, although if I had to guess, Everly might have practiced some to make sure she could put like, prank gifts inside of gifts inside of gifts inside of gifts? And she taught Kale her shithead ways and he tried it once and Delia J was NOT impressed and maybe lowkey smacked him for it and since then he doesn’t ask Everly for help anymore lol 

-Who excitedly wakes up their partner on Christmas morning: Okay but like... these two together... would they ever even have gone to sleep? lol

-Who holds the mistletoe over the both of their heads: I could see Everly doing it as a way to mess with both Kale and Aspen -- to poke fun at how Kale is all grown up and kissing girls now and see if he’d take the bait and kiss her (but she’d probably stop him if he actually tried lol, she just doesn’t expect him to) and also just to see if Aspen will be weirded out enough to actually like talk and protest in front of people lol

-Who sets up the christmas lights and who holds the ladder: Back in Neverland/Pixie Hollow Kale is like 2 inches tall so like... no ladders involved, he would just fly around and string lights for Everly

-Who gets angry at little kids and tells them Santa isn’t real: Neither! Everly’s the chaotic one of the two but she seems too laid back and goofy to do something so deliberately mean.

-Who wraps presents horribly and has to get help from the other: LOL I FEEL LIKE THEY WOULD BOTH BE BAD AT IT except then I remember who Sylvie’s sister is so she must have learned a thing or two about pretty packaging from Bij. So Bailey would definitely go to her for help when he realized he’d been playing videogames right up until like 10 minutes before Christmas and has to wrap his gifts fast and he has no idea what he’s doing because Eliza’s already asleep and she’s usually his girl helper. 

-Who excitedly wakes up their partner on Christmas morning: SYLVIE! Bailey either passed out playing videogames on XBox Live with people on the other side of the world or he didn’t sleep at all lmao so she’d be the one coming in with all the Christmas energy. 

-Who holds the mistletoe over the both of their heads: Like as much as I wanna say it’s Sylvie being cute and Christmassy and just trying to play up traditions that does this kind of thing... I don’t think it would be. Bailey is a gross horny boy and Sylvie is nice and has awesome boobs so if he could get away with kissing her and call it ‘holiday tradition’ and not have to figure out like a way to be smooth and make it happen, then he would XD 

-Who sets up the christmas lights and who holds the ladder: BAILEY IS LITERALLY CLUMSY AND BREAKS THINGS ALL THE TIME AND NO ONE EVEN WANTS TO WRESTLE HIM BECAUSE THEY DON’T WANT TO DIE. So like, if anyone is doing the decorations it’s got to be Sylvie, although I don’t feel MUCH better about her chances...

-Who gets angry at little kids and tells them Santa isn’t real: Bailey maybe? if a kid were somehow around him to like interrupt him getting a high score at an arcade or like interrupted him during a gaming thingy and made him lose, he would definitely spoil it for them. Sylvie’s scared of Santa so idk I feel like she’d avoid having to discuss him at all costs so no one sees her cry, and that includes not spoiling the secret for anyone. 

WHO DOES WHAT IN YOUR OTP (CHRISTMAS EDITION):

-Who wraps presents horribly and has to get help from the other: For a group of weird emotionally stunted sexual deviants... none of them are like, bad at wrapping, I don’t think? With that said I feel like it’s probably Ren that’s the best of it, since she has a whole slew of weird talents that she doesn’t get much of a chance to show off. And she’s the princess in the bunch :-p So if they have odd shaped packages or things they want to look extra extra nice, Ren’s their girl. 

-Who excitedly wakes up their partner on Christmas morning: Lui is waking everybody up. As the houses’s biggest shithead, making noise and forcing people out of bed on Christmas Day is like his birth right (although if I had to guess if someone was hopping right out of bed and helping him instead of groaning about it, my guess would be Ren, so he probably wakes her up first)

-Who holds the mistletoe over the both of their heads: Lui, Gwen, and Serenity ALL MISTLETOE ATTACK RAFE. They’re all so like free about just macking on each other when they’re bored but they’ve got to prod Rafe to get him to even MAYBE SOMEDAY consider being a part of the action lol

-Who sets up the christmas lights and who holds the ladder: I know without a doubt that no one trusts Lui to hold the ladder. I feel like Rafe is the least unpredictable of the four of them so he’d probably get the duty of being the stable guy making sure no one else falls. As for the rest, idk if Ren is like... allergic to Christmas trees or some shit like that so I guess we’ll go with Lui or Gwen doing the lights. Depends on Gwen’s mood of the day, she decides if she wants to put forth the effort or if Lui has to be her bitch and do it instead. 

-Who gets angry at little kids and tells them Santa isn’t real: NO ONE! There are four people who are about to be Tallulah’s parents, and they’re all gonna be REALLY GOOD AND LOVE THE SHIT OUT OF THAT BABY! They wouldn’t want to make anyone else’s kid miserable, no matter how tempting it might be :-p
