thinking about deployment point in arknights and boil it down what actually is, involve vanguard role too.
lets assume for now that DP can be interpret as 2 thing : logistic supply and tactical readiness
for logistic supply it simply mean the supply ready at hand or a secure spot for logistic line to deploy an operator
for tactical readiness its the preparation in strategic manner with carefulness, you dont send out operator without knowing the situation at hand
from this we can interpret why DP increase each second and why some maps have 0 initial DP or a few DP, it increase every second bcs given time Doctor would have already asses the situation and ready to deploy operator when needed be or the logistic side already secured and organized enough supply for operator ready to deploy
map with initial DP is either bcs Doctor already already have a grasp of initial situation or that’s the current supply they have ready to be taken
for without it mean we are currently unaware of the situation and in need of observation and it doesnt mean we dont have supply ready but rather bcs were unaware of the situation we shouldn’t throw precious supply without the knowledge what they be used for
when it come to EXP map and why it didnt generate natural DP but instead DP every kill its bcs EXP map take scenario in training to be reviewed, where the initial DP is more about the current supply ready at hand more than tactical readiness, but every kill in this map mean the situation has been under control giving signal for further support from other operator waiting to deploy after the initial wave
LMD map however take scenario where we are currently securing goods but got intercepted in the middle of journey and we need to react ASAP, hence scarce of supply but in return we have good grasp of situation, thats why LMD map have high initial DP point but low natural DP regen
as for operator DP cost it relates to their supply need in battle or their tactical value in battle according to their role
example Hellagur, a strong operator that can go for a prolonged fight without support and knows how to sustain self in a fight, you dont just drop this kind of operator without a second thought that why he has high DP related to his tactical value despite the low supply he need
same can be said to Ifrit with her strong tactical value but she also need a good supply to be sustained in battlefield unlike Hellagur
as for supporter with their low DP its because they are meant to support the team even with low supply bcs they arent demanding to their need (laugh in summoner), not gonna go another detail for each class that be a big hole to dig bcs too many archetype to be talked in single post
here’s come the vanguard role in securing DP, they are meant to handle the initial situation and securing tactical information in the battlefield which also translate as tactical readiness for other unit to be deployed, their role is to inform Doctor directly for the situation currently as initial front line, in simple way :
regular DP skill = this is the situation at hand
Myrtle flag DP skill = requesting support in accordance to the situation
Scavenger/Vanilla atk skill = clearing area + this is the situation at hand
Courier def skill = securing/defending area, need support
Zima roar of ursus = clearing and defending area, further support is safe to be deployed
Texas sword rain = enemy stalled/ area clear, immediate support is safe to be deployed
Siege aerial hammer = area cleared
as for full refund vanguard they are meant to be early stress reducer from initial wave which is why they dont need much supply to whack some enemy and are able to return full DP not bcs they didnt use supply but rather the information they bring back of the situation, while fast redeploy only need small sustain to do their job around the place back and forth whilst not entitled to give more info bcs it wasnt in their role (though if you think some operator doesnt really fit the report back character just think Doctor put more observation around vanguard and asses battle field situation from there for more DP in term of tactical readiness)
but when operator down they dont bring DP back bcs they were unconscious to report back, but if they were retreated they can bring some info back but need supply to heal self and the increase in DP to be redeployed correlate their need of supply if need in further fight
and so you got this massive headache of DP if you think too much about what each value mean bcs its rather vague
