Ayame felt her blade connect with the demon's neck just like the various counterparts, but she was quickly shoved away from the dragon heads, which smacked her around. The human crashed through a few tree trunks before passing out from the impact of the force. It felt like only seconds passed before she inhaled deeply, regaining her consciousness.
The brunette snarled as she felt her ribs were broken and her leg was twisted from landing improbably. Blood was covering her vision as she could not see anything past it, as her head was throbbing and her eardrums were ringing, which might have been caused previously by the soundwave attack.
The Thunder Hashira stood up, refusing to give in to her injuries. Pain was still a message that her brain received, which could be ignored. However, something strange had shifted in the air as it smelled like a storm was rolling in when it was just about dawn, but the demon almost felt like it had simply vanished. Her heart was racing as she slowly limped forward, trying to test the waters, not knowing how long she had blacked out from the last attack. Clenching her sword, she held it tight as she could not hear or see anything due to her injuries. Her senses were heightened from unlocking her slayer's mark, which littered her face and down her neck with cracks similar to lightning.

"what?" instantly he was horrified, thinking about how bugs could even get into someone's chest. wouldn't they just go down the throat and into the stomach? and did the hashira say---swords?

It was a simple visit to the small village during the day, right when the weather was turning colder, so the animal pelts she had would sell for a much better price. The woman smiled softly as she spoke to the men and laughed politely, before rejecting his offer of taking her out to see. It had been a few years since that moment that changed her life forever, waking up to her children slaughtered and running away, not believing it was real. After a couple of months, she had returned to find their bodies were given proper graves, and the house was abandoned by its appearance.
Tanjiro and Nezuko were the only two who did not have gravestones, so she hoped that maybe they were both still alive. She had taken some precious items before leaving to look for the truth about what happened that night. Kie had traveled further across the country than she ever believed she would have to, but she found no luck in searching for her children. She kept their family picture she took on her at all times.
Picking up her basket of animal hides and herbs, she started to walk down the street, which was not very crowded. Humming the lullaby she would always sing to them about the red eye rabbit, she froze when she heard something. Her heart fluttered, not sure if she was just hearing things, but it sounded like Tanjiro was calling for her. Her body stiffened as the woman feared turning around and seeing nothing, like countless times before. Kie inhaled deeply, feeling tears prickling at the corners of her eyes, before taking a few more steps forward.

alphonse is , as usual , lost in his own world. his little nose is deep in a book that they'd found in their father's study , one that should definitely be too difficult for him to understand. but it's not , not really , & science is fascinating to him , he wants to know everything he can about anything he can. the world around them is so vast , & alphonse can't wait to see it all.
he's so caught up in his quest for knowledge , though , that he doesn't notice his mother sneaking up behind him. even her laughter doesn't reach him , golden eyes fixed on the pages before him. it's only a few moments before she catches him , wrapping him up in a blanket with much laughter from both of them.
