“Solvalou” from Xevious by @htromak
I’m a sucker for Namco System 21/22 games and Solvalou is no exception. It’s a wonderful little rail shooter take on the Xevious series, which unfortunately I can’t play much of because in recent versions of MAME it crashes about 5 minutes into the first level. Older versions can run it all the way through, but the price you pay is the loss of the background textures so everything is pitch black where the sky should be.
At least the music is nice and a good change from the usual repetitive Xevious tune (it’s still there but at least is mixed with some instruments for once to sound decent). This plays during a section where you fly over a wide ocean and overhead highways, while encountering what I presume are hovercraft variants of the Grobda tank.
