Dear Mem- I owe you so much thanks, even though we’re strangers, because you have saved my family. I had no idea our daughter was singlet- she’d worked so hard to hide it for so many years, and we thought she was a normal system with good grades and good life. I didn’t know she was actually suffering and hating herself. By pure accident I found her laptop open to your channel while she was at school. I was confused at first. She’d never expressed any interest in singlet’s rights. I have to admit I started snooping- my headmate Vicky kept telling me not to, but I had to know what was going on. I found out that not only was she one of your followers, but she was singlet herself, and was very confused and in a lot of pain. I found an entry on her Tumblr mentioning suicide. Vicky and I cried and cried- when she came home from school, I just threw my arms around her and told her that we loved her and would be proud of her no matter what. I had to beg her forgiveness for invading her privacy, but more importantly we sat down and talked for hours. Real talk, like we’d never had before. I finally learned who my daughter really is- not the set of false identities she’d made, but her real name, who she really was. Part of me was torn up inside to be losing the system I thought I’d known and loved, but more importantly I gained a real daughter when I lost some false ones. Please, don’t stop doing what you’re doing. Other families might be ripped apart by this, but in families like ours love is winning. As for how I was seen- well, nobody could ignore me. They could ignore raids and riots and the lives of individuals who were suffering, but they couldn’t ignore my blunt and honest statement on one of the most popular televison shows in the world. Clips of me saying “I’m a singlet” from that beige chair across from Amy in that television studio showed up over and over in newcasts. Usually it was hard for me to listen to the surrounding commentary, even when it was supposedly neutral; it was usually starting from the assumption that I was admitting to deviancy or disease, and most of the time it was as though they didn’t really know what solity actually is. On one famous news segment, four members of a discussion panel tripped all over each other verbally with misunderstandings like 'how did he manage to kill all of his headmates' and 'how is it possible that he doesn’t have an identity at all' and 'how did all of the people in one body turn out completely identical?' I even found myself smirking a little, almost chuckling, while simultaneously wiping away tears and rocking back and forth in my seat a little. What had I done?
