Pls tell me that Donnie is at the very least NORMAL about April in this au bro and not like og 2012 Donnie, and does he and the other turtles see her as a sister like in rise or a friend like in 2012??
Oh yeah sure, Donnie's pretty normal about April, non crush thing. They end up becoming good friends, best friends even. I like to think of their friendship as the kind where they tease each other, since they're all sassy, but really care about each other.
Mikey tends to see her as an older sister, while Raph and Leo respect her and see her as a friend too. Everyone gets along pretty well.

Absolutely! Raph will have a relationship with Spike/Slash similar to the original, just with a few narrative differences. I like to think that Raph would still confide his problems and worries to Spike
Now, when it comes to Chompy, Raph certainly wouldn't think twice about offering to take care of him. After all, he'd miss having someone small to look after and protect (aka Mikey and Slash angst)
HI! question about ur world swap au. what is splinters relationship with his boys? i know from the character sheets that leo and him have issues. could u elaborate on that? and what about the restnof them?
anywho, really excited for this au, the first couple updates are fantastic!!!
Thank you so much!! It warms my heart to know that you're enjoying this AU :)
Good question. The relationship between Splinter and the boys is complex, partly because Splinter is a complex character, and some things here are different from the original. I’ll break it down a bit by characters.
(long text, short version at the end)
In general:
Splinter is a caring, protective, and loving father. He cares deeply for his sons and would never refuse to help them when they need it, yet he also wants them to be independent and strong because he knows he won’t always be there for them to protect them.
The problem is that his trauma causes him to take this too far at times.
After losing his wife and daughter in the past, Splinter lives in constant fear of losing his sons as well. This makes him overprotective, controlling at times, and emotionally distant at others. Splinter keeps many secrets, and sometimes this drives a wedge between him and his sons.
Although he genuinely tries to be a good father, he fails at times and these failures end up affecting each of his sons in different ways.
Splinter and Raph:
Raphael is one of Splinter’s greatest sources of pride.
He sees in him someone who is naturally responsible, caring, and willing to protect his brothers above all else. Even though he hadn’t planned for him to be the leader, Splinter recognizes that Raph does a good job.
This creates enormous pressure.
Raph deeply loves his father and looks up to him a lot, so he ends up feeling like he has to be perfect, strong, mature, and responsible.
But underneath it all, Raph is still just a kid. Away from his responsibilities, he loves to play, act like a teenager and goof around with his brothers.
Splinter and Leonardo:
Splinter loves Leonardo deeply, but the two are constantly at odds.
Leo hates feeling controlled. He is impulsive, questioning, and isn’t afraid to voice his opinions, even when it upsets his father. While Splinter believes in discipline and constant training, Leo wants the freedom to make his own choices.
On the surface, he seems carefree and even irresponsible at times, always making jokes or avoiding serious topics. But much of this is a way to escape the vulnerability and insecurity he doesn’t know how to handle.
Splinter sees enormous potential in him, which only makes the relationship more complicated.
Despite everything, the two love each other, and Leo won’t think twice if he feels he needs to run into his father’s arms like he used to on nights of nightmares (in this AU, Splinter isn’t so neglectful, so Leo and the others can give Raph a break).
Splinter and Donatello:
Donnie is constantly seeking approval.
He enjoys his father’s attention and tries to earn it through his own skills, such as inventions, intelligence, and discoveries. Anything that proves his worth. Splinter recognizes Donnie’s maturity and believes he can handle his own emotions on his own, which ends up creating a silent distance between them.
Donnie doesn’t like to show vulnerability.
He hates that his soft shell makes others treat him with extra care, cause it makes him feel weak compared to his brothers. So, instead of opening up emotionally, he tries to make it up by being helpful all the time.
Even so, Splinter quickly notices when something is wrong with him and always tries to help him, even though he doesn’t always know how to reach Donnie emotionally.
Splinter and Michelangelo:
Mikey probably has the most openly affectionate relationship with Splinter.
Since he’s the youngest, Splinter ends up having a soft spot for him and spoils him more than he realizes, and Mikey reciprocates this by being extremely affectionate and emotionally open with his father. He’s the only brother who calls him simply “Dad” instead of “Sensei” or “Master Splinter,” and Splinter never corrects him.
The two grow even closer through cooking and, later, Mikey’s mystical abilities. (ooh, spoiler
Because he idolizes his father so much, Mikey may end up losing some of his trust in him when he discovers the lies he’s been hiding.
In short:
Splinter in my AU deeply loves his sons and would do anything to protect them, but his traumas and fears cause him to hide secrets, overcontrol certain situations and end up emotionally distant without realizing it. Each of the boys reacts to this in a different way: Raph tries to be perfect, Leo rejects control, Donnie seeks validation and Mikey idealizes his father. In the end, it’s a family that needs to sit down and have a long talk about a lot of things
Will season 5 be explored? I know that season is seen more as an anthology than anything concrete so im wondering
Honestly, I have little to no interest in writing Season 5. If I do anything, it will be epilogues or special episodes. Some arcs are fine but others I just find it...unnecessary

Hii!! I really like your swap word au! The idea is so cool.I wanna hear and know more so if you want to yap about it feel free to do it :D
And also I really like how uncomfortable Donnie is about his own straight (and obviously his shell)
How is he dealing with that? How is Splinter about it? And his family in general?
Why is rapha the leader? Is it because he wanted to? Because he proposed to? Because he is the oldest?
How is the relationship with splinter and his sons? I notice that Leo seems very frustrated and uninterested, it has to do something with his relationship with splinter? Does he want to be a ninja?
You said that Mikey learned to cook so his family could eat better, Does he feel like he needs to help them in some way? Is, in some way, trying to show that he's useful besides being the youngest? Is he the youngest? Or does he cook for fun?
What do the turtles think about the exterior world? How did they meet April? And Casey?
Oh man this went so much longer than what I expected, I started writing and the questions started coming. Don't feel pressure to answer. And if you don't want to answer some of them, just don't do it.Love your style! :D
Oh my GOD, I LOVE long questions. I'm so glad you like it :D! Well, let's see.
In fact, Donnie is insecure about his physique and the fact that he doesn’t have a solid shell. He tries to make up for it with technology, even though there’s nothing wrong with the way he is. Splinter and his brothers tend to be overprotective with Donnie, and he hates it, but soon they’ll see that this turtle doesn’t need a hard shell to be tough.
Raph is the leader by vote.
I explained Splinter’s relationship with each of his sons in more detail in another ask, but overall, he and Leo have a...complicated relationship. Leo loves being a ninja, he thinks it’s badass, he just doesn’t want to follow Splinter’s way of being a ninja.
Wow, you're really getting the hang of it. Mikey likes to cook simply because he enjoys it, but maybe he, unconsciously, started cooking better to prove his worth. He's still the youngest and gets spoiled because of it, which causes conflicting feelings of wanting to be independent but being afraid to take the first step.
They like the surface, for now. They meet April and Casey just like the og.
Thank you so much for these questions, it's a pleasure to answer them :D!
I first thought that they were in the rise universe and the 2012 was in the rise universe. But then I saw the kitchen... It's the opposite, right? The rise turtles in the 2012 universe
Yep, WSAU it's about the 2018 turtles living in the 2012 universe.
Okay, so first, I just now found your comic and I love it! You draw the characters so well. Why specifically rise turtles in 2012 world and not the other way around? I like it, just to be clear! Was just wondering what led to that decision.
Thank you so much!! It fills me with joy know you like wsau :)
I don't have any specific reason for why I wanted it to be that way, I just thought of that possibility, and the rest came naturally. Maybe I chose the 2012 storyline because it's longer and there's a lot of things to explore, but it would be interesting if it were the other way around, too.
